The fine print says minimum qualified plan is 75/mo. That's where they get you with these "free deals" - locking you in at high monthly rate for 3 yrs.

Quick math assuming you are ok with Visible/Mint at $30/mo - overpaying by $45/mo for 36=$1620, that's what you are paying for the "free iphone".

If you live in an area which has good coverage then better buy an unlocked phone and get a carrier of your choice than getting robbed by these guys for 36 months.
I have an unlocked phone & pay $20 per month for service. Can't be happier.

I'm on a large plan with 9 people. Which I know not everyone can do. But we only pay ~29 per line. With the promotion at Costco we will get $1000 total credit (trade in + monthly) over 24 months.

Costco also offers $75 for an existing line upgrade, and also wave the activation fee ($35). We have upgraded three phones there and only "FOUR" can be upgraded on the current iPhone promotion and then we will have to wait till the next promotion.

How so?
I called the t-mobile support and ordered 2 phones. The t-mobile staff said that I have to pay the full amount and the 50% will be credited back to my account. But I never received the credit.
T-mobile is not honoring the deal. Because the order was made online, I don't have any solid written papers to show it to them. T-mobile is conveniently saying that they don't have the record of the phone conversation.

Also note that AT&T will lock you in with that phone for 36 months, as in you won't be allowed to do any other trade in or upgrade deal with the same line for 3 years. Don't even think about paying off your phone. I spoke to AT&T and they said if I pay off the phone (based on full price), my montly credits will stop right then and I will lose the rest of the money.

Yikes.

AT&T has terrible service. Any deals with better carriers?
You are wrong! Best service so far.

Considering they're offering $830 trade in value on iphones as old as 4 years, thats still not bad. Even if you stay with the contract for 2 years, you still got $570 of value out of a phone that Apple would have given you $200 for. No way you'd be able to sell an iphone 11 or similar for that amount in the open market either, their used prices are barely more than $200. I don't see how any of this can be seen as anything but a win.

I just did this deal and I upgraded my 4 year old iphone 11 into an iphone pro 256gb without changing my plan and all it would cost me is $7.50 a month for 36 months, $270 in total. For an $1100 device? Its a no brainer. Gone are the years that smartphones wear out in 2 years, so I doubt I'll be upgrading in less than 36 months anyway but if I do feel the itch in 24 months time, I'll still be over $300 ahead vs just buying the phone from apple and trying to sell my 11 on the open market.

I don't think that would be per line, it is per plan, so a family plan will easily go over $75 while costing $30 per line per month. That's where I am right now (I do get discount as a healthcare worker) and I did qualify for this promotion.
Show me an unlimited plan that is on AT&T or Verizon and it costs less than $30/line.
What about roaming options on those prepaid plans? They exist, however they are not cheap.

That has not been my experience in the past. I paid the device in full and the credits continued. I did this several times actually.

$75 shop card per line with Costco TMO and free activation. 90 day return policy which take it through December 15 Black Friday and Christmas promotions. 2% back on phone purchases?? Does anyone know?
I was speaking to mobile rep at Costco yesterday. For Tmobile at least, they DELAY shipping the new phone for 90 days. This way you CAN'T return it.

You are saying for T-Mobile you'd have to wait 3 months until the phone is delivered? I doubt it..

* I purchased an IPhone 15 Pro Max 512Gb 2AM 9/27/23 via Costco ATT. And it is arriving tomorrow 9/29/23. That's a 72 hour turn around. Costco is using FedEx Overnight Delivery. The estimated ship date during purchase was Oct 8-21. ymmv.

Also another tip…
Starting October 2023 - ATT is reducing their autopay discount using a credit card from $10 to $5. They are encouraging members to use checking account for autopay in order to receive the full monthly $10 discount. (Has to do with credit card fees and ATT)

Some premium credit cards have their own cellphone protection coverage if you use their cards to pay for cellular bill. To take advantage of that, manually pay off your bill with premium credit card before the monthly autopay date and continue to reap the $10 a month discount.
