Just got one from last week's deal β€” set it up with some 32GB SODIMMs β€” popped open Adobe Illustrator and InDesign β€” works good!

I want to take advantage of all these deals I'm seeing on 11th Gen laptops and sff things but I'm not exactly sure how the Downfall mitigations are affecting the processors yet. I went with the NUC 12 Extreme, but I prefer this form factor, the Hades Canyon was my favorite NUC.

I bought it last time it hit the FP, have been using it for about a week and a half and love it. I can't hear it, at all, the sizing is great, the USB quantity is perfect.

I'm not gaming on it, at the moment, but it runs all my work stuff great and handles a QHD + UWHD display great.

Took like 10 minutes, tops, to install the memory and hard drive.

Do take note: it takes SO-DIMM memory modules.

Now: I gotta figure out how to change the glowing skull to something else. It comes with glass plates to do so but I'm not sure if I should be doing Sharpie on them or a Vinyl sticker (instructions don't provide any feedback)

I thought the same. The downfall mitigations for the 11th gen could mean as much as a 40% hit in CPU performance. If there were no such issues, this would be a great buy.

See if you can unplug a small ribbon cable inside. You should be able to turn it off completely if you want.

Oh yeah, I noticed that. I was more referring to modifying it to be something else that is shown. Best I can tell they gave the materials to do that exact thing, but I don't know what they expect me to black out the glass with. Is it cool enough that I can use a Vinyl stencil or…

You get where I'm going

Buy this and take a CPU hit of up to 40% or not install the Downfall mitigation and live in fear. The choice is yours. Choose wisely grasshoppers
