Inverters do not have abrupt compressor startups. Better for sleeping.
Thanks, I had no idea that was a thing! We have a window AC that we have to run all night because it is so loud starting up in eco mode. I know what to look for next time.

Bought two 12k btu of this unit, new, one from lowes one from amazon, in may of this year. One already is dead with error code EL 0C. Under warranty so i did get a refund from midea via check but it took a lot of back and forth and then following up when i didnt recieve the check they said they sent out.

You need to clean the filter at least every two weeks or these things get nasty and mine are installed with proper tilt and i still had gunk/mold in one. The filter is easy to clean but the area by the coils is not.

All these AC units on sale seem to be made for double-hung windows. They really need to make more window AC units for slider windows, millions of people have them.
They could make a unit that is taller than wider with the window recess on the side (which side?) but the problem is how tall is your slider (it varies, greatly)? What do you fill the space above the unit with (has to be small enough to prevent entry)?

I'm glad I have double hung windows, two of these rotate cool air throughout the house.

If you use bleach does it not cause some corrosion? I assume it's aluminum. And if it has a corroded layer it might not be so efficient for heat transfer...
Haven't noticed any from these cleanings and I've had this for 10 years. I guess it depends on how much bleach you're using too. The bleach I use is diluted with the soap and water. Your more likely to get corrosion on one of these due to the radiator bottom sitting in water all season long. especially if it's clogged up to boot.

I got this from costco. Probably mmy 4th different ac unit in 10 years. Definitely th best one. It's extremely quiet, similar to a pedestal fan which is a white noise I like. Seems relatively efficient and the swing feature while gimmicky does do a better job or evenly cooling the room.

I rarely have issues with mechanical products- combination of luck and taking care of what I have. But two of these Midea
UShaped ac units failed. This combined with woot - I give it a thumbs down. I hope fellow slickdealers listen.
That being said- the 10 year $99 AC units won't quit-
I also had two fail on me. Well, the first one worked for 5 minutes. Not sure if that counts as dead on arrival or failing. The second one lasted for a couple months. Luckily, I bought from Costco. Still, it's a pretty big pain to remove from the window, box up, and fit in a small car to drop off somewhere.

Had one, it was quieter than traditional AC's and cooled the room as expected but it can be a pain to seal around so bugs don't get in.

These are nice units, but they're a major pain to install. And in some cases you have to do custom fab or woodworking to get it right.

Be mindful of widow width requirements

"Available for single-hung or double hung window with size: 22 - 36 inches, minimal height at 13.75 inches."

I bought at Sam's couple years ago and have 48" window. The way the bracket is you better have a window 36" or less. It wasn't worth trying to modify some way to make it work. Returned because of that.
I would disagree. It's slightly more work but it is possible to mount it in a wider window. You just add a small piece of wood to the window sill, bolt it down to that piece of wood instead of to the sides and get some extra foam to seal the larger opening in the window. I've had mine in a 48" window for several months and it's holding strong.

I got this deal.. and was very disappointed.. Came really beat up with very big dents in the medal frame.. and all the fins inside and out were bent. Looked like it fell out a two story window. Don't know how they can ship that to customers and call it renewed. anyway I returned it.. gonna wait till a decent deal comes on a new one even if it cost a little more. This left a very sour taste for me when it comes to woot renewed.

Bought a 10k refurb last spring and it works very well. Also got a 3 year extended warranty just in case. I saved 70% on electricity using it instead of a portable I was using and is very quiet. It is mounted in my living room 3 feet from my head, and it bothered me.

The casing on mine was also physically damaged, but the unit was functional. Woot opted to refund me and let me keep the unit, so I am happy with the customer service.

I will, however, buy my next unit from Costco when on sale.
