This is becoming so prevalent and widespread that I believe it won't be long before Samsung revamps their trade in policy subsequently addressing this issue and effing it up for the rest of us..
S23 ultra 256GB has 8GB ram.
S23 ultra 512GbB has 12GB ram.
His earlier trade in (without the ram upgrade) downsized ram. This deal matches ram with bigger storage. Honestly, I think this deal is great for someone who has s22 ultra 128gb. Mine is s22 ultra 256gb so I am still on the fence, considering mine still runs like new, look like new and there is no much difference between 22/23.
You listening samsung?

The only thing i may don't like is that ratio is now 19.5/9 vs 20/9 before S22..
So s23+ looks chubby but nothing compared to the s23ultra monster chubby.
For s23ultra you need a man purse

But, it looks like Cali is using a different logic-how much "payment" you are making for the trade, and "payment" could be in shape of tangible item not necessarily cash. Hence, they are looking at cash value of the tangible item, in this case the *value* of the trade in which is I believe 900 for S22U. Thus, your taxes are on 900+285=1185. Note that, tax is probably NOT on MSRP which could be inflated thousands in marketing gimmick. Also note, there is never a tax on "discount" that are deducted by Samsung.
Sales tax is most likely on cash trade in value + the price of phone after discounts (subtotal).
I would try to have it shipped to neighboring states or something to avoid this much robbery, if possible and worth it.
I still can't believe I missed out on the Google fi deal from earlier this year, $300 savings on top of $310 trade in value for iphone 11 or something like that
more ram, QUADRUPLE storage for that price, and let alone the battery.
its a no brainer deal.
i too had a 128gb s22 ultra that was fresh and just unboxed. i took it on one 3 week trip to korea and japan, and its storage is already more than half. wont have to worry about storage with 512gb for a while, least til the next upgrade.
