"why can't top phone companies have small phones?" The iPhone SE exists.. and Apple makes their phones based on demand - they likely dropped the minis because they weren't selling well enough to justify the separate production lines they require.
Also, "keep getting bigger and bigger" hasn't really been true for years - not for Apple anyway... the 13/14 pro/max are essentially the same sizes, but with the 15 there's actually a (slight) size savings over previous gens, and a pretty good weight savings, too. My XR is bigger than the 15 pro that will be replacing it.

Lastly yeah I don't know why people complain about sizes either. The Galaxy S series actually went smaller in size from one gen to another i think the 21 to the 22
i15 base appears to me to be the value item comparing it to it's i14 iteration. Why? it gets the jump to the 48mp camera the i14 base didnt get last year bec. it was reserved for the i14 pro and max (but it's really a 24mp but a really good one).
forget about usb-c for the i15 base however... it's physically there, but the data transfer rates are usb 2.0... same a lighting... they only did the interface change.
the i15 pro does have the ability to offload files to a externally connected drive... that was shown during the annoucement demo....
i just dunno (i haven't checked ) if it's a feature exclusive to the 15pros... probably is.

It errors out when I try. When I tried to contact redpocket, I was told to contact smartpay. Smartpay then told me they no longer have an active relationship with redpocket. Go back to redpocket. The preapproval link even says smartpay. So as far as I can tell there's no active way to finance. Im now working with redpocket.
This would all be so much easier if apple didn't nerf the apple card phone financing feature
