For those of you who don't know what this is:

This is a small travel router that connects to an ethernet port of an existing network, OR can be connected to an existing Wi-Fi network and used to create your own personal Wi-Fi network but this router uses a VPN to mask your traffic when used.

It can also be used on Visible to share a phone connection with multiple devices but you will be required to use a TTL hack to make it work.

There are a few ways, the one I use is:
1. Connect phone/laptop to captive login wifi.
2. Connect GL.iNet to power
3. Log in to GL.iNet web interace
4. Change GL.iNet router MAC address to the same as that of your phone/laptop.
5. Connect GL.Inet to hotel WiFi, and it'll work.

A big use for this is also when you have a hotel that charges for, and limits the number of devices that connect to wifi. This isn't as common in the US anymore, but still common internationally. Also, if you have a ton of electronics with you, having this would save you from having to reconfigure each device for the new SSID.

Side note, I have this and it works great, the VPN works well too.

Would this work on a cruise ship, so one person could get the wifi package and multiple people can use it?

This is obviously the easiest way for sure.

GL iNet is a Hong Kong based company. Nope its's not China even if China thinks Hong Kong belongs to them

Ordered one. Can we do TTL so my cellphone plan will not be counted as hotspot ?
I never got TTL to work but easytether is an option. you have to do some pre-setup on the router for it to work.

Just placed an order through my Amazon Business account for $63.
Hopefully, this will fix the issue I sometimes I have in hotels where devices constantly get disconnected especially when staying for multiple nights.
Also, Caesars properties in Vegas limit the number of devices you can connect.
Hopefully, this gets around that too.

it does not fix hotel Wi-Fi stability issue, but you can setup your own Wi-Fi from hotel room wired Ethernet that could improve the wifi connectivity

Thank you! I've never purchased from Aliexpress so while the price is attractive is there a chance of receiving a used item or knock off? Amazon returns are so much easier than dealing with a company overseas.
If you are a new aliexpress user google new aliexpress user you can probably find additional coupons to make the price more attractive.

I have not received a used or knock off items before. I order my original GLINET AR300 from aliexpress and it came in new condition. It's difficult to make a knock off of a GLINET router since the software/hardware are very specific/specialize. On the https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32...4517.html? main page state it has a 15 days return policy and their version of buy protection.

I have a few issue of receiving a item not as describe or does not work and aliexpress refunded me via support. They do require you to take picture/video evidence. I would suggest using paypal as well so you'll have another form of dispute to play it extra safe.

I completely agree with you, I would purchase from amazon as well if the price was very close.

Thanks for the tip.
I was specifically talking about hotels where you have to reconnect devices each day that you are staying. I understand this won't help with Wi-Fi stability issues.

This is really good. I remember when I used to work a travel job from Monday to Thursday at various client locations all over the US. I used to take something similar with me, not the exact same model, but I believe it was a TP-Link device with Wi-Fi connectivity. Once I set it up in my hotel room, all my devices were securely connected to my own network.
Prety sure it was IBM 3865-2

If you have it in router mode then you don't need to set it to use your laptop mac address. Just log into it. Set it to use the hotel wifi as the wan and then browse the hotel web captive port. The hotel wifi will see all devices behind the router as coming from the same IP and Mac address.
Would this basically split the Wi-Fi speed between all the devices connected to the router if using the hotel Wi-Fi as backhaul?

It's cheaper on aliexpress for $69 (with current promos) if you don't need it ASAP. I had a few extension auto input some coupon and dropped the price down to $59. I ponder a bit but I decided to bite. I attached my checkout screenshot below. Good luck.

Background:
I been using Glinet Ar300m a (2.4GHz) router for travels and easytether when there is internet issues. In the US you can get a prior model refurbished MT-1300 for $49.99 [gl-inet.com] [gl-inet.com] on their official store front site. The phone app and web interface makes it dummy proof. I was on the fence with the refurbished MT-1300 cause I wanted a 5.0GHz for my next travel but since the aliexpress MT-3000 was $10 more for build in Adguard home, newer Wifi 6, better VPN speed, I decided it was worth it - price too good to pass up.

PS - Also 5% PayPal cashback for Chase freedom Big Grin
Thanks, I could get down to $57.96 after coin & voucher, still on fence 😁

Do you have to have a VPN subscription for any of the supported services or is it included with the devices?
