Not the same device. This is a monitor and NOT a TV. Look at the pictures of the back. I have this monitor and love it as you can display 4 separate devices at the same time. Ive had it for close to 3x years now. Code does work making it $400. I would buy it again.

I've used the predecessor of this monitor (LG 43UD79-B) since 2017. The USB-C supports DP-alt mode over Thunderbolt with the right cable. Monitor volume can also be controlled over USB-C/Thunderbolt on a Mac with add-on software that supports CEC… something like SoundSource or eqMac or soundflower, etc. Just a couple of tips for any Mac users that give this monitor a go.

Looks like a decent deal for a large productivity monitor with -60w USB-C. Shame it has such a low refresh rate and high response time.

There's a lot of wannabe know-it-all on this site but I'll help you out. There's nothing wrong with using a tv as a monitor as long as it can do 4:4:4 chroma subsampling so you get flawless text as you do with a traditional monitor.

You might. I stopped using mine and replaced it with a 49 inch ultra wide for this reason, because I started having more neck pain and I suspect the monitor was a contributing factor. Not sure if it made a huge difference though.

The other drawback of a taller 16:9 aspect ratio vs an ultra wide is that your camera will probably go on top, so if you have a taller monitor like this and you do a lot of video calls it may make the camera angle look weird

I use a 42" Samsung 4K TV as a monitor at work. It's great. Was a highly rated model on rtings. Only cost $300 when I bought it 5 years ago.

I also bought a 50" LG tv for my home office and it's not great. Light bleeding at top and it's also just too big. Strains my neck a bit when I look near the top half. It's mounted about 4" above the desk surface to make room for things on the desk. If I had to do it again, I'd get a 42" again.

I have this monitor. It's my home office/man cave monitor. I love the 4k screen real estate here-- effectively four 21" 1080p screens connected together, allowing plenty of vertical space for multiple windows. But if I had to do it again I'd choose a different solution, either scaling down to a 32" or choosing an OLED.

Here's my caveats:
  • The USB-C power can be finicky. Sometimes I can get it to charge my work laptop (a Lenovo Thinkpad P1), usually doesn't. It seems to reliably charge my Macbook Pro. It does not charge my Lenovo Legion 5 Pro.
  • It does not have ARC or optical audio out, so hooking it up to an external sound system requires either an analog audio out, USB input to the sound system, or something directly to your computer. This combined with the above really hurts the single-plug dream.
  • It's an IPS display with low contrast. Even while centered on the user, you may notice the color shift when switching from working with a window on the left side of the screen to the right. YMMV here, but I don't seem to get all the pixels to face me at once-- I shift in my chair or move it to work on the other side of the screen.
  • I don't use the PIP and quad-split stuff as much as I thought I would. I'd probably prefer a big window on the left and three vertically stacked 720p screens on the right for work productivity, and software tools might be enough without multiple machines running simultaneously to make that happen. I ended up preferring one big screen rather than four separate sources most of the time.

Logitech Flow is trash software, huge size, utilize lot of CPU power. there are many better solutions

Buyer beware on this monitor. There is a reason BuyDig is selling this on Ebay. Good luck on any problems needing to return this monitor. If you have $400 to throw away--go ahead. If you look closely on Amazon and BestBuy, the reviews are from those who have had the monitor for only a few months.

This monitor stopped working after 4 months. (No video signal using USB C or HDMI) Tried it on windows pc, mac, and various laptops. It was returned to LG for repair. After 3 weeks came back, It worked for another 5 months and stopped working. I am within 1 year warranty. Just called LG, they will not issue a refund. I don't want to waste another month waiting for this monitor to possibly be repaired. Poor quality and customer service.
Upon the second repair, I received the unit back from LG, huge black vertical line down the middle. I am trying to get a refund on this monitor and LG is dragging their feet.

Thoughts on going with this over LG 32" 4K Ultrafine 32UP83A for same price? The specs look equivalent for the most part. Just worried 43" will be a bit too big for workstation/gaming use.
