Not the same device. This is a monitor and NOT a TV. Look at the pictures of the back. I have this monitor and love it as you can display 4 separate devices at the same time. Ive had it for close to 3x years now. Code does work making it $400. I would buy it again.

I've used the predecessor of this monitor (LG 43UD79-B) since 2017. The USB-C supports DP-alt mode over Thunderbolt with the right cable. Monitor volume can also be controlled over USB-C/Thunderbolt on a Mac with add-on software that supports CEC… something like SoundSource or eqMac or soundflower, etc. Just a couple of tips for any Mac users that give this monitor a go.

Looks like a decent deal for a large productivity monitor with -60w USB-C. Shame it has such a low refresh rate and high response time.

Thoughts on going with this over LG 32" 4K Ultrafine 32UP83A for same price? The specs look equivalent for the most part. Just worried 43" will be a bit too big for workstation/gaming use.
Compare brightness, pixel pitch, dpi/ppi and color accuracy then.

There's a lot of wannabe know-it-all on this site but I'll help you out. There's nothing wrong with using a tv as a monitor as long as it can do 4:4:4 chroma subsampling so you get flawless text as you do with a traditional monitor.
Can you post even one good TV that has a RGB sub pixel layout? They're not common. So it's better to tell people to avoid buying TVs as monitors altogether. There are too many compromises. There are so many monitors that do the job even at TV sizes, it's unnecessary.

I've had this monitor for over a year now and I love it. I have it as my main monitor and also have two 24 inch monitors to the side stacked on top of each other. I don't do any video/image editing so the picture quality is fine for my needs(looking at documents, spreadsheets, etc.). As someone commented before, big downside for me is the lack of audio output besides hooking up your own sound system to the source or using a 3.5mm out(it does not have optical out or hdmi arc). The speakers on it aren't too bad but they won't blow you out of the water. I don't really game heavy on it so the refresh rate is not an issue. I do love the PIP function as i have my nintendo switch/xbox one(for light gaming) and my chromecast for 'multi-tasking' on slow work days Smilie

Buyer beware on this monitor. There is a reason BuyDig is selling this on Ebay. Good luck on any problems needing to return this monitor. If you have $400 to throw away--go ahead. If you look closely on Amazon and BestBuy, the reviews are from those who have had the monitor for only a few months.

This monitor stopped working after 4 months. (No video signal using USB C or HDMI) Tried it on windows pc, mac, and various laptops. It was returned to LG for repair. After 3 weeks came back, It worked for another 5 months and stopped working. I am within 1 year warranty. Just called LG, they will not issue a refund. I don't want to waste another month waiting for this monitor to possibly be repaired. Poor quality and customer service.
Upon the second repair, I received the unit back from LG, huge black vertical line down the middle. I am trying to get a refund on this monitor and LG is dragging their feet.
I had a problem getting a refund for a dell laptop one time, kept getting the run around. I looked up the emails of the ceo, vp, some top tier execs, and copy pasted my email to them. I got my problem handled super fast, worth a try in your situation.

They aren't common and it takes some digging to find the info. Sony tends to offer it on their TV's. If I knew of some options I would mention them but I just started looking into them for productivity, I'm still looking at ultrawides though. If I decide to buy a tv that does 4:4:4 I'll search for a used Sony on ebay, I'm partial to them.

Has anyone here tried using an LG or Samsung 43' 4k tv as a monitor instead? That would cost around $300 or so which would be $200 cheaper than this.

I always heard you shouldn't use a TV as a monitor since it is a TV. But as long as the TV has that setting for you to change the text to not make it blurry... anyone know the name of it? Then you could use a TV as a monitor?

So wouldn't the only difference between a 43' 4k tv compared to a 43' 4k monitor is you power it on with a remote or something?
I've been using a Samsung 43 inch 4K TV for the last 2 1/2 years. I haven't had an issue with text clarity when upscaling text. The big difference between the LG monitor listed here and the TV is that the monitor has four separate inputs. Whereas the TV you can only run one input a time.

Brightness is 100 nits less and doesn't look like it supports HDR.

I've used 4 different TVs as 4k 4:4:4 monitors and the best one I've found so far is the Hisense 43" 43A6H which was $150 a few times at costco, otherwise $200-$250.

One thing to note when using a TV is that it will not automatically wake up from sleep if you have the monitor set turn off after inactivity. The better TVs have wake on lan and you can script up a solution, otherwise you have to hit the power button every time you sit down.

Some people may prefer usb-c and DP ports on a real monitor but in my experience you don't lose anything with 4k 4:4:4 HDMI adapters.

The other problem with most TVs is the glossy screen, I'm considering buying a 43" monitor just for a non-glare screen. But if you let dust accumulate over time you can get a non-glare coating for free, just don't ever touch it or you'll notice the spot and have to clean the whole thing!

IMO, this is the best size to get if you're going to buy a 4k monitor. Anything <35" and you're going to turn on scaling. If you're turning on scaling, why are you buying a 4k monitor?

Using scaling doesn't affect resolution, that's why you get a 4K monitor...for resolution. Your eyes must suck to think 43" is perfect for 4K. Enjoy looking at pixels.

Clearly you don't understand what I'm talking about. I have a 32" 4k monitor at 100% scaling and hate it. I would use 125% but when I do software design, scaling messes stuff up.

If you want 100% scaling where you're actually using the resolution that you're paying for to it's fullest extent, get this size. If you use 150% scaling, just buy a 1440p monitor of the same size and use 100% scaling and things will be close to the same size.

Decided to pick one of these up to test against my 32" LG IPS. Seems like a great deal for what you are getting.

I tried using a 43" 4k Hisense A65H (BJ's Warehouse model - same as A6H) as a monitor recently and unfortunately decided to return it. Whenever I viewed something with a light background I would see these swirl marks all over the screen (they look like what your finger print would look like enlarged all over the screen). From googling some refer to this as moire effect and I found out it's very common with these Hisense panels. I noticed the effect immediately and there was no going back as it's not something that I could unsee, lol.

It's a shame too as I picked up the 43" Hisense for a little under $200 and resolution and text size seemed fine to me at 100% scaling. I even scaled to 125% and the text stil looked very crisp. Just curious if you've ever noticed this so called swirling or moire effect on your Hisesnse panel?

Is your 32" LG a 1440P or 4K monitor? Please post your thoughts on this 43" beast once you get it up and running. I'm curious to know your thoughts on it vs the 32" you have now.
