I guess it won't get cheaper than the $55 list price. The RPi 5 should be available by the end of this year.

Rpilocator has been reporting nearly daily stock of the Pi4 for the past few months. The only one that is still somewhat of a struggle to get is the Pi Zero 2.

The specifications have not been officially announced yet. So it is impossible to know exactly what the performance will be, but of course a more powerful SoC will be used.
Allegedly it's going to be a 2GHz instead of 1.5GHz quad core CPU.

RP5 expected in mid 2024 with 2.0 GHz A76 and 4 to 16 GB LPDDR5. Modest bump in performance, maybe 20 to 30%.

Every source I've seen has said The RPi 5 won't come out until mid 2024. The RPi foundation said 2023 is a "recovery" year, so they're not releasing anything new. If there's new information, I'd like to know.

EDIT: They just announced the Raspberry Pi 5 is releasing in October. Neat!

Not really a good deal. Even at the less inflated prices too, but especially not at this price. You can sometimes find PCs with N5105 processors for this same price on AliExpress. Even for an extra $30-40 you can buy something a little more "safe" like a Beelink N5105 from Amazon that would blow this out of the water. Unless you really need GPIO pins or are paranoid about BIOS level malware, I don't see why you'd want this over an Intel based system.

When you factor in a good case, storage, and charger (if you don't have any spare phone chargers and USB C cables) you are already near the price of a new Beelink on sale or used HP/Dell mini PC.

I have two RPi 4s. They've served me well for 3-4 years now but I wouldn't buy one again unless I got a bundle with the case and memory card/SSD for this price total. Mini PCs have come a long way and there's a glut of used overpowered mini PCs on eBay.

Before you spend your money on a Raspberry Pi, you might want to consider other options. By the time you add a case and a power supply, and a microSD card to the Pi you'll be at nearly $100. Add a 128gb USB SSD and you'll spend $130. You can buy a much more functional used Intel tablet with 4gigs of ram, a 128gb SSD, display, touchpad, add on keyboard and integrated battery for just over half of that.

I have a couple Pi's and recently installed Linux on a 10 year old tablet that is no longer in use, thinking just to take advantage of the battery in the tablet so I wouldn't have to use a UPS. It does everything the Pi does and more, but it's 4x faster, cheaper and has the advantage of a keyboard, touchpad and display if I need it. Even better it doesn't need a UPS and instead of working for a few minutes if the power fails, the old tablet battery will last for 4+ hours and the OS will gracefully shut down when the battery gets low. It costs less to operate too. Power consumption is lower for the tablet than it is for the Pi and the UPS.

Do you know the model number or the processor of that 10 year old tablet? I have some old tablets that maybe I underestimated and could still use for something.

I'm not seeing many reviews for that site, and Trust Pilot has someone recently claiming they never shipped and demanded began demanding IDs and things sent to them.
I can't find any legit/known US store carrying them.
