It seems these have been consistently back in stock for under $70. Raspberry Pi models are expected to be ramping back up in production.

I'm not seeing many reviews for that site, and Trust Pilot has someone recently claiming they never shipped and demanded began demanding IDs and things sent to them.
I can't find any legit/known US store carrying them.

Pishop.us is an official Raspberry Pi retailer. I've ordered from them more than 5 times in the past 2 years and never had a problem. The only downside is no free shipping.

Not really a good deal. Even at the less inflated prices too, but especially not at this price. You can sometimes find PCs with N5105 processors for this same price on AliExpress. Even for an extra $30-40 you can buy something a little more "safe" like a Beelink N5105 from Amazon that would blow this out of the water. Unless you really need GPIO pins or are paranoid about BIOS level malware, I don't see why you'd want this over an Intel based system.

When you factor in a good case, storage, and charger (if you don't have any spare phone chargers and USB C cables) you are already near the price of a new Beelink on sale or used HP/Dell mini PC.

I have two RPi 4s. They've served me well for 3-4 years now but I wouldn't buy one again unless I got a bundle with the case and memory card/SSD for this price total. Mini PCs have come a long way and there's a glut of used overpowered mini PCs on eBay.
Just 1 use case...
Even the smallest mini PC does not fit in the control panel of most 3D printers and a rpi with klipper installed is one of the most common control upgrades for them.

The small size and power requirements as well as good documentation are why people use these specific boards.

Agreed. With the prices of mini PCs now like NUCs and beelinks, can just use that for what used to be Pi use cases, such as a home assistant server.

Do you know the model number or the processor of that 10 year old tablet? I have some old tablets that maybe I underestimated and could still use for something.
M-5Y71. It's got a fully loaded version of Linux Mint on it and I've added Nextcloud, Wireguard and Syncthing servers on top of what was running on the Pi4. It's still 4x faster.

I have some Dell Venue 7140 and 5175 tablets from 2015 & 2016 with similar Core M processors. I remember they throttled when the CPU was pushed hard and the passive cooling could not keep up. I just bought my first Pi and it's much slower than I expected.

Even with my server applications the CPU's utilization is 1 or 2% when streaming a HD movie through a Wireguard tunnel and running 3 other server apps, but beyond speed the real advantage is stability. I had my Pi server fail a couple of times due to corrupted MicroSD cards before I added the UPS, and of course it happened when I was away from home and couldn't fix it. This is a much better solution.

For the Netflix "household" workaround, is the raspberry Pi still preferred for NordVPN meshnet or is there something better?

I guess it won't get cheaper than the $55 list price. The RPi 5 should be available by the end of this year.
Raspberry Pi 5 was just announced. It's a huge upgrade 2.4 GHz A76 and 800 MHz VideoCore VII GPU so twice the performance for $5 more MSRP, $60 for 4GB and $80 for 8GB. However they will be sold out and rarely sell at MSRP for a long time.

If shipping costs weren't so high, the current front page deal for the Pi5 would be close to MSRP.
But it's definitely worth it instead over a Pi4.

Frontpage deal is not much of a deal. I preordered my Pi5 this morning from Sparkfun at MSRP and free shipping, limit is 5. Also bought a new Pi4 8GB last week for $60. That seemed like a deal but I might return it now.
