Still in stock it seems!

But - the good price for these is $30 (used or new), the bottom end of Asus hardware that still does good aiMesh. Can extend your WiFi at low cost.

How is it as a node for a primary AX system though considering this is AC

If you google it - not an issue at all. Even more so if you have the wired backbone. It's fairly smart!

Not really a very good deal. This is going to be very similar in features and performance to the T-Mobile router which can still be had for ~$30. You do need to do a little work to flash them from their T-Mobile firmware to a stock firmware because the T-Mobile firmware stopped getting updated. I was running two of those with AI mesh using the second as a bridge/extender. I've now got an AX unit as the router and one of the T-Mobile routers setup in AI mesh with it. The AX router was an Amazon warehouse deal and was $57.

IMO, this router has outlived its usefulness. Yes you can put in the merlin firmware, but its latest roms keep taking up lots of nvram space to a point where you have to keep factory resetting the router and configure everything back again. Recently, I got fios and got the CR1000a router for free and it works just better despite it doesn't have the bells and whistles software features of a cr1000a.
