From what I could gather, it seems a good deal for the distance offered and front shocks (much needed for streets and sidewalks that aren't totally smooth). I've found pneumatic wheels help a little bit real shocks make a big difference. Only thing that might want to note that if you have to climb any stairs this weighs 50+ lbs. There are other scooters like the hiboy ks4 pro that chime in around 32 lbs but you lose the pneumatic tires and the front shocks as well as are limited to half the distance on a full charge. Same speeds though.

All depends on your weight. Aovo es80 for $235 including shipping and tax. If you're 135-175lbs you'll go 25 (twenty-five) miles all day at 11 mph even with hills. I get 30miles if I just cruise. Got the tube tires and studded 8.5 snow tires. Winter and summer. The hard tires are great to start with but invest a bit and your $235 scooter goes 20mph whips 15miles smooth. In a flat city you'd get maximum. I wish they had numerical locks like old American built cars in late 80s early 90s with the 10digit key pad and a built in code nobody could get call a manufacturer to get in the system if you own it with verification. You can steal it but it would never work, right? Like changing your audio system on a sedan. Idk why they got rid of certain tech to make more money. I run one of the 8. Big techs. And we would never get rid of a certain tech or engineered piece for how well a 10 digit key code works with all this shit they got these days the world is fu'd up ain't it. You got rid of the simple built in flawless mechanical digital tech shit for trash shit now they're gonna steal every car and item we got. I could cannibalize the fleet in my city and sling parts. But yeah aovo pro ES80. For a general rider. Best bang for buck idk why people have these convos. Unless you wanna spend 1 grand spend 250 max get 20miles 20mph. If you invest in extra tires or cellphone holders or for me I collect cans so a hook to carry bags, whatever you add on I don't need to add anything to the basic es80 its clutch legit efficient. I've gone 300miles in two weeks. I don't owe the DMV anything they owe me about 19 grand. So just don't let anybody mess with you on a scooter, not having a license will save you about 100k in a lifetime depending on state. Blue 100, red 30. K. Location, geo. In a small city like Syracuse, Buffalo. Great. NYC, dc, boston. Great. Don't take a scooter to the boonies these people will hang you. They have no power over you though remember. Bike lane. 19.5 mph or less aovo, maxed. Depending on weight you're fine. They need to respect the bikes scooters and pedestrians. People are idiots so always watch out. I get far on the es80 like 20+ miles 13-18 mph at 150lbs. Does anyone do a weight chart with stats? Shouldn't that be a standard? They all say 220lbs. But the chart should be made by now it's 2023. Shoe size. .. power.weight..use..


Also yes the weight and stairs and storage. The aovo pro ES80 is 27.5 lbs it's like carrying one little dumbbell

Get the multiyear warranty from Allstate on the eBay page. I bought a scooter from walmart and the protection plan has already paid for itself three times over. Tire repair/replacement ranges from $70 to $130 at my local eshop.

I'll second Aovo Pro scooters. They are very similar to the more popular brands but so much cheaper.

The Aovo Pro ESMAX is better than this gotrax in almost every way (slightly smaller battery, although quite a bit lighter), and is ~$150 cheaper new:

I purchased the ES80 and ESMAX from Walmart. My ESMAX motor started clicking weird after about 100 miles, so I returned it and got a replacement.

I'm 260 lbs and went 20 miles on the ESMAX.

I also have a Kaabo Mantis 10 Lite which is an amazing scooter, although ~3x the price. The ESMAX is definitely my favorite sub $500 scooter.

Been curious how many miles people can get out of a scooter like this before it fails or requires significant repairs. I was talking about this with a friend, I'm not convinced these are cheaper to operate than an efficient car. The tires might only last 1000-2000 miles and the whole thing might die and need big repairs after a few thousand miles.

That's a fair concern... So far I've found it difficult to be able to get parts and repairs done for my scooters.

That being said, I budget about $350 per month for my every day car, which includes insurance, gas, maintenance, repairs, and registration.

Even with scooter repairs, I have the potential to save a lot of money from gas and wear and tear on my car.

Most people don't buy a scooter to do completely without a car, but to use it along side of a car. I mean even if you shave a few thousand miles off your cars usage per year, how much are you going to put in repairs, parts for the scooter? Most cars go 20-30K with zero issues then you might need a small repair. I'd be surprised if a scooter like this didn't need something after 2-3K and probably tires after 1-2K.

I guess it would boil down to cost per mile. I suppose if you manage to get at least 2000 miles out of a scooter like this with little to no repairs, then it probably paid for itself.

So far, after 24 miles, I am still impressed with the premium feel. It's definitely heavy and not easy to lift upstairs or carry. I've driven mostly at night with cars and potholes, and the lights in and around the scooter are extremely bright, making it easy for traffic to see you. I consistently hit 20 mph when straight away and no struggle going up inclines. Cruise control is great. Brakes are good, but wont save your life. 1st gear is 3 mph hard to balance but made for walking speed. 2nd gear is really all you need for a smooth ride 15 mph forgetting I even had a 3rd gear..

p.s. riding a scooter in real-life is way scarier then on vacation. Cars do not like you and neither do bumps. Full bubble suit recommended.

I wonder how do you put a bike lock on an electric scooter? They get stolen so quickly I don't really see them as an option.

I use a normal bike lock: around the stem that attaches to the base (the lock has to be tight enough that the scooter can't be fed through the lock).

Also, some scooters have "electronic locks" where a key or fob or app is required for the scooter to function. It doesn't prevent someone from taking the scooter, but can prevent them from riding it.
