I had a 500 in my previous house. It's was super quiet and never had an issue with it. Bought a new house and it has a dishwasher from 2007. If i can score a new one, im in!
I just found an open box fair 800 series available for a really good price at my local store but not sure if it's worth it for a open box fair. I'm torn.
Known issue with Bosch dishwashers is that they smell. Not everyone has the issue, so I bought it anyway and now but I have the smell.
Purchased this when they were hard to get and expensive and wouldn't buy again. Can't leave it closed for more than 10 minutes or it smells. Has the pop open door so not awful to leave it open but ridiculous to have to. Several sites say it's a drainage hose issues and be sure to loop the drainage hose. Haven't been able to try that yet as it's in a very tight space and difficult to adjust. Also, it's been suggested to me that baking soda would help and so far no go. There is a setting on rinse to clear out the standing water and I tried that but it didn't help. Have emptied the standing water by hand and that didn't help either.
Also, I find it doesn't clean that well and leaves a film on the glasses/dishes so I have to do extra rinse cycles till that is gone. My friend has the kitchenaid 604 and it is much better. Gets everything clean and no film. That being said, some people have issues with their kitchenaid as well. My mistake was not buying from Costco as they are the only ones who give you a decent return period. Would have sent this back if I could have.

Only problem with Costco , for my use case is they don't have or sell Ada compliant ones . I need a lower height dishwasher which I could not find anything on these deals for over a year .

I see a GE ADA complaint Dishwasher for sale from Costco. Maybe they don't carry them in your area.

Thanks for your inputs. I keep hearing about Bosch dishwashers and smells. It seems like an unnecessary headache to deal with every day. Why do you think they are still recommended so highly? Would you recommend them?

I think for all brands, it's about the one you actually receive. If 80% are good, then that is a lot of happy customers. I would definitely not recommend them but that's because I have one with this pretty bad issue.
It's like dishwasher roulette. That's why I usually buy from Costco because they make returning things easy. Good luck!

I have an almost 7 year old 500 series. It doesn't smell at all. Been pretty happy with it. Its very quiet and cleans the dishes just fine. I do love the gimmicky little red light that shines on the floor to let you know it's running. I will say, the pocket handle broke about 6 months ago. It still opened and closed fine but you could feel when you pressed on it that it was broken. My husband ordered some inexpensive part through the mail and fixed it. Honestly I don't even blame Bosch for it breaking. I might have caused it to break by the way I have to vigorously clean the handle every day, due to the fact my kids grub it all up when they open and close it.
