Same. I love it. Purchased from Atlantic Knife Company in July for $48. I didn't need it but I just couldn't say no to the deal.

This deal is arguably better, with every S35V scale/blade and Damascus variants included at the same price, sold by manufacturer and fulfilled by Amazon. If I didn't have one clipped to my pocket I'd be clicking Buy Now without blinking.

In case anyone is wondering, you buy the Damascus variant for the looks, not for the steel quality. According to a review [amazon.com], the Damascus is a compound of 10Cr15CoMoV and 9Cr18MoV. Likewise, note the carbon fiber scales aren't solid carbon fiber: "Handle Material Twill Carbon Fiber Overlay On Black G10."

Damascus variants of any knife are typically more expensive, so this is (compared to usual price or sale history) the slicker deal. The S35V versions have hit this price point numerous times, but I've never seen the Damascus version go this low.

However...

The S35V version will perform better. It is arguably one of the very best steels for an EDC folding knife. I really love the micarta handle, too. I prefer the feel over the G-10 on my Griptilian.

You could be…

- at a baby shower, helping out with the balloon arch and now you gotta cut a string. You can either leave your post, find a pair of scissor, cut or just reach into your pocket and whip out your blade

- at dinner and your kid is complaining about how the straw is too long. Whip out the blade and shorten that stick

- just received an Amazon package and couldn't wait to take it into the house to open it. Whip out the blade and open it up on the spot

- you and your partner is about to share a dessert. You asked the cashier for a knife and she handed you a fork. Whip out your blade, clean it with napkin, then slice the dessert down the middle (this just happened yesterday actually)

If you're planning on opening boxes only, the folding utility knives are great options. I went with a pocket knife because a wise man once said, never go anywhere without a knife. You gotta be careful if you go to places with metal detectors

OP appears to be missing the link for the Damascus version: https://www.amazon.com/Civivi-Pin...08MW3GBM1/

This is a no-brainer for S35VN. Although, I'm always skeptical of Chinese made in regards to if the steel is really what it is advertised as.

Legitimately what do you guys use pocket knives like this for? For some reason I want to get a decent pocket knife the only thing I could ever possibly think of using it for is opening boxes from Amazon which doesn't seem like the best use for a knife.

Are they only really useful if you like go hunting or camping and shit or if you live in a sketchy area?
lol - I have a few dozen pocket knives of different makes, sizes and steels. In all honesty, I carry (always) the same 2 Buck knives that I have owned for almost 2 decades. All of these other ones I buy rarely see my pocket or my hip - it's an addiction.

Not sure why they removed the knife that was originally posted but here's the missing link.

CIVIVI Damascus Pintail Flipper Pocket Knife C2020DS-1 https://a.co/d/5aqJG5l

I'm leaning towards this one 👇 in comparison to the Damascus pintail. Similar price, Larger blade, no distracting fake carbon fiber handle.

Absolutely not. The lowest I've ever seen an S35VN steel knife go was $90 and it didn't even have Micarta scales. This is a STEEL.

My suggestion: Get a folding knife you can carry in your pocket and see how much you end up using it when it's there. Guaranteed, you'll want to continue carrying one.

Some things I use them for:

- Carving
- Opening boxes
- Slicing apples, pears, and peaches
- Piercing plastic with the tip
- Whittling wood
- Removing stuck objects
- Scraping
- Protection
- Emergencies
- Clearing drain
- Loosening screws when no screwdriver available
- Skinning
- Some have pommels for hammering, breaking glass, prying, etc..
- Moving debris
Yes except DO NOT use a knife as a screwdriver unless you're okay with a broken tip and replacing the knife or reshaping the blade.

The damascus Baklash can be found cheaper.

Thanks, looks like it's pretty much cheaper almost anywhere other than Amazon.

I know it's not the same knife, but I have an Elementum as an every day. Solid lockup, smooth action, decent edge retention (D2), carries well. Only beef is the pocket clip, which has caught and bent open on a few occasions. I've read that the ergos on the Pintail are better.

I would have bought an Elementum a long time ago if it wasn't for the non-reversable pocket clip. I don't even consider right hand only knifes at this point after having a few that I thought I'd just "deal with". I like the Apalachian which is on sale too but it's right hand only like whhhyyyy???

Just ordered this in the brown micarta. Love Civivi knives. Hard to pick a favorite, but if I absolutely had to pick one it's the Justin Lundquist Lumi. Skinny blade, super sharp, a fun fidget, and can be carried easily with any pants or shorts.

I generally apply a small dab of blue loctitie to the pivot screw on all my knives, but especially the Lumi. It will loosen over time with constant fidgeting with out the loctite.

I also like to apply a drop of Hoppes 9 gun oil to the bearings where friction happens. Looking forward to getting this pintail. Frankly Civivi has become my favorite brand of knives to collect. Just great gentleman's knife designs all around at affordable prices.

This is the cheapest S35VN I've ever seen. Most stuff with this steel is well north of $100. I picked up a SOG terminus XR in S35VN for $55 with carbon fiber on another slickdeal but that was a coupon code anomaly. Regularly $85

A $5 knife would work just fine in any of those situations.

But the feeling of using something nice and beautiful? These are beautiful tools and I don't even like knives (got the green one)

This is pretty convincing not going to lie. I think my problem would be actually remembering to bring it with me.
