Same. I love it. Purchased from Atlantic Knife Company in July for $48. I didn't need it but I just couldn't say no to the deal.

This deal is arguably better, with every S35V scale/blade and Damascus variants included at the same price, sold by manufacturer and fulfilled by Amazon. If I didn't have one clipped to my pocket I'd be clicking Buy Now without blinking.

In case anyone is wondering, you buy the Damascus variant for the looks, not for the steel quality. According to a review [amazon.com], the Damascus is a compound of 10Cr15CoMoV and 9Cr18MoV. Likewise, note the carbon fiber scales aren't solid carbon fiber: "Handle Material Twill Carbon Fiber Overlay On Black G10."

Damascus variants of any knife are typically more expensive, so this is (compared to usual price or sale history) the slicker deal. The S35V versions have hit this price point numerous times, but I've never seen the Damascus version go this low.

However...

The S35V version will perform better. It is arguably one of the very best steels for an EDC folding knife. I really love the micarta handle, too. I prefer the feel over the G-10 on my Griptilian.

You could be…

- at a baby shower, helping out with the balloon arch and now you gotta cut a string. You can either leave your post, find a pair of scissor, cut or just reach into your pocket and whip out your blade

- at dinner and your kid is complaining about how the straw is too long. Whip out the blade and shorten that stick

- just received an Amazon package and couldn't wait to take it into the house to open it. Whip out the blade and open it up on the spot

- you and your partner is about to share a dessert. You asked the cashier for a knife and she handed you a fork. Whip out your blade, clean it with napkin, then slice the dessert down the middle (this just happened yesterday actually)

If you're planning on opening boxes only, the folding utility knives are great options. I went with a pocket knife because a wise man once said, never go anywhere without a knife. You gotta be careful if you go to places with metal detectors

OP appears to be missing the link for the Damascus version: https://www.amazon.com/Civivi-Pin...08MW3GBM1/

Imagine you're walking down a dark alley at night, and someone jumps out at you from the shadows. This stranger's intent is as obvious as it is common...You see, they've purchased an extra-large oyster so they could give the pearl to their beloved, but they don't have the digit strength to pry open the clammy beast. They call upon your benevolence. Behold! You whip out your blade and liberate the encrusted crystallized calcium carbonate sphere. You've saved christmas for this man. His paramour says "yes." They have children. One grows up to solve cancer and develope interplanetary travel meds that which protect your DNA from space radiation. Billions of lives saved. All because you made the right choice and carried a pocket knife.

Happens quite often.

I'm just getting into this EDC knife subculture thing, so please pardon my ignorance, but where are you finding the Kizer Cormorant for $10 more? I'm seeing well over $100 for the Kizer. Am I looking at the wrong thing?
The Cormorant is an ugly duck but that Amazon deal for the black one is too good to pass up.

Pintail is an excellent value too though and I've always been impressed with Civivi knives

Legitimately what do you guys use pocket knives like this for? For some reason I want to get a decent pocket knife the only thing I could ever possibly think of using it for is opening boxes from Amazon which doesn't seem like the best use for a knife.

Are they only really useful if you like go hunting or camping and shit or if you live in a sketchy area?
For daily/weekly stuff, opening boxes/packages, breaking down boxes, yard work are my most common uses. I'd say I use my pocket knife once a day.

Does anyone have suggestions for something similar in this price range but slimmer? This looks like a good deal but it's just a bit thicker than I'd prefer to keep in my pocket

The Cormorant is not my favorite for looks and not crazy about the handle. Great for playing though. So many ways to open it.

Pintail is too small for me. The Cormorant is actually pushing it size wise. I do have lots of Civivi though and they are great. I think my favorite Civivi deal right now is the Riffle. The steel is not as good, Sandvik 14C28N, but the Micarta handle feels much better in hand than the Cormorant. And is only $31. https://www.bladehq.com/item--CIV...fe--120367

I have been carrying a Gerber Slimsada. It is very slim and feels good in hand. The blade is D2. So, not quite stainless but I have not had and issues with D2. Not SV35n of course but it is also now only $20,

I have not been a big fan of Gerber and there is much hate for this model's frame lock being hard to close. I agree is not smooth, at all. But with frame and liner lock knives I normally disengage the lock and then finish closing the knife by pressing the back of the blade against my thigh. Fingers never get in the way doing that.

So, it has been a regular in my rotation. The micarta feels great, love micarta. Check it out if interested.

Only the dark green micarta is S35VN steel. The other two are Civivi's 'damascus' steel, which is based on 9Cr steel.

In for 1. Always enjoy a quality knife. Have another from this brand. Hoping this 1 will impress a bit more. It wasn't bad by any means. Perhaps expectations may have been heightened by posts. I have my favorite brands and origins yet no blind allegiance here. Thanks for sharing OP.
