If you're not already in the M12 ecosystem I wouldn't buy into it for the installation driver. It's has weird ergonomics. The D handle gets in the way in tight spaces and the button for changing direction is way up on top in an uncomfortable place to reach. I have this one and the dewalt one and the dewalt is just easier to use.

But there are pros and cons to each ecosystem. That's why I have both. For the ratchet the M12 battery form factor makes more sense.

Is the ratchet brushless?
No, it's not. Someone reported in a recent deal thread. Here's HD web description on the rachet. Part # for the ratchet: 2457-20

It's different, but it's also the first 'drill' I generally reach for. It's designed to be held with a slightly modified grip - with your thumb / forefinger "pinching" the drill head and your middle finger pulling the trigger. That way your thumb can easily move up and select the direction. Again, different... but I've had drills in the past that can be accidentally bumped into 'neutral' or even all the way into the reverse - that's not exactly great either.
Yeah I hold it that way, just like a drywall screw gun. It's still awkward to get to IMO. The Dewalt installation driver is more compact and still has the switchable chuck and adapters. I just find myself using it a lot more.

This is not a bad tool. If you're already in the ecosystem I wouldn't hesitate to get one.

If you're pulling the trigger with your index finger, nothing about this driver makes sense. Point your index forward, pull with your middle, and switch directions with your thumb and it'll become one of the most ergonomic tools you've ever used.

I do use it that way and the button is still in a bad place. On my drywall screw gun you hold it that exact same way and the reverse switch is really easy to toggle.

This is the link if you want to "hack" this deal. Choose the ratchet as the free tool. Return the ratchet ( or set it to pick up from a different store) and the installation tool will be about $113.

Why's it always the d type handle when m12 fuel goes on sale. Waiting forever for thr regular handle m12 fuel..
If you're looking at the m12 fuel impact, thats a different product altogether. This is an installation driver meant for installing screws etc. That's why the D-handle is there (to hold screws).

hack it by listing the rachet on FB-MP or 3bay with the charger if you don't need it. many people want just the rachet so should be easy to flip
This. I've gotten 4 or 5 deals with the ratchet and another tool and usually sell the ratchet, charger, and a 2.0ah for $100. It's never taken longer than 2 days

If you just need a new drill driver, there's similar ones (3403-20) on ebay at around $87.
