Hmm this or a Samsung 970 Evo for a slim laptop primary drive replacement that has gen4 slot? Gen3 w/ dram vs gen4 no dram. Not too concerned with max speeds just want dependable and cool running.

If you're referring to the 970 evo plus, a guru3d test comparison chart showed it registered max temps of 65c, while the p41 registered 55. I'm personally seeing low 50's myself on the p41 in a gaming laptop and can't tell any slowdowns from using it as a gaming drive daily. I can't comment on reliability yet, but so far so good.

It's below the recommended speeds but I believe people have said that it works. I personally would use the P44 for peace of mind, eventually games are going to need the faster speeds that the P44 offers.

SD is allowing people to make a thread about this every day now. It is backordered on newegg and out of stock on amazon last time a checked today. Two days ago, it came back into stock on newegg, and I bought 2 of them. Then later in day it was back-ordered, and amazon had delivery date of Nov 7 (4-6 weeks away) and then went out of stock.

I guess tomorrow , someone will post a new thread on it.

Get the 970 Evo, im holding out for a 2tb, but also bought the 1tb amazon deal for $42.99. Youre going to want that dram and TLC on the 970 for a primary drive
