Lots of misinformation in this thread. I have 2 of these bikes.

1) SUPER easy to assemble. All the nuts/bolts are pre-installed. You loosen and install.
2) The bike is very well-built. Quality parts including metal fenders and solid wheels.
3) There's nothing to break on the bike's handle bars and there's no way to install BMX style bars on this bike. To that poster I say post a picture of the break because that's a load of BS.
4) The bike is locked at 15mph as per European rules. Unlocking the bike is easy but not using the directions that were shared earlier…..those are wrong. See below.
5) The bike will hit 26-29mph depending on your weight.
6) Li batteries are not the problem with fires. Charging damaged batteries is. Also what you think you know about charging batteries is wrong.
- Charge your Li batteries regularly. Don't let them get to 10% or less.
- Once every 30 charges, purposely take the battery to failure and then recharge fully to avoid charge-memory.

What the bike does need is a suspension seat. I recommend the SunTour SR NCX. $50 on AliExpress.

Buyer beware I own this bike the handle bars rod broke toward the bottom thin cast aluminum welded bad. Installed BMX style handle bars. Seen on Facebook front fender cause for failure people to wreak. Had trouble but worked the bugs out now it a decent bike for the money.

I don't get out much and I'd need to lose some weight. Might do it with rebate - The WA state Legislature approved $5 million for rebates of up to $1,200 for electric bike purchases. other states too. https://wabikes.org/index.php/202...ton-state/
How much do you weigh, and how much would you spend outside of budget? You'll have to check the specs, but I want to say this bike supports somewhere between 260 and 300 lbs.

If it were me, I'd go for a more premium brand that has a reputation for good customer service/repairability...

I don't know from experience what Lectric's customer service is like, for example, but I think their cargo bike is pretty sweet. The dual battery one is especially cool. If I'm not mistaken though, their batteries are not UL certified... but I guess many aren't. Not sure how much you have to spend for that and premium parts... might be upwards of 3k...

I guess it just depends on your use case and budget. If you would actually pedal the bike, it would provide at least a little exercise if you only kept it on the level 1 pedal assistance. I'm not sure how much it would help with weight loss though. Exercise certainly helps, but I think diet is probably 70-80% of the battle...

You want a mirror attached to your helmet like a Take A Look Cycling Eyeglass Mirror

Anyone know if this is an authorized dealer? Engwe will not honor warranty if it isn't.

There are authorized dealers for "Engwe"?

ENGWE website has a list of unauthorized dealers. Geekbuying isn't one of them. I read mixed reviews on this retailer

My theory on this seller, based on past purchase, is that once order is received they send it to engwe who ships it. I contacted geekbuying about tracking number and they openly stated they had to contact engwe to get it . On top of that, it is my belief that engwe will send you a refurbished or repackaged return bike, that is my theory. A lot of people complaining about similar minor things and mine had a few slight issues and a few miles on the speedometer. But for over $200 discount, and if you know how to work on bikes I think it's worth it. If you are inexperienced or unwilling to work on the bike, I would skip this.

There are quite a few discreet e-bikes with 30 mile range that are lightish
Which ones? Im looking for ebikes for my kids to ride home from school but they need to be light enough for my wife to pick up and put on a bike rack in the morning.

I have a similar folding electric bike from Costco. I have to say that after one year of use, I miss the leg extension you get from a regular bike. It always feel like I don't get the full cycling experience. I bought it thinking I could pedal on my way back home but is a struggle. I am on the lookout for a regular size bike. I have put this bike on the trunk a handful of times but I just can't get over the pedaling part. My $0.02.

Your theory is incorrect. I received my 2 bikes in brand new boxes, no scratches, rotors were brand new as were tires and rotor pads. These are brand new bikes. They are, however, 2022 models.

If you buy this bike and want full extension just raise the handle bars and the seat post. Super easy.

Just got back from Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville, SC. We rode 25 miles in PAS 2 through 5. Still have 2 out of 5 bars left on the battery so I'd estimate the battery to last just over 40 miles using consistent pedal assist.
