Wow 36 months bill credit.
i.e. 3 year contract.
Why would anyone want to be on a 3yr contract?
36 month contract and you have to pay tax on the phone.
getting taken to the cleaners.

Their customer service, like many companies, has completely gone down the toilet.
Call - yeh you lose the shop card but keep your grandfathered plan which is worth way more than a shop card.

Took me all of 30-45 minutes to:

1. Pay off the last month on two devices

2. Order and give payment for the two new iPhones

Order on the phone with Verizon and keep your plan, it's the best way to upgrade this cycle for Verizon period.

It's effectively a contract. Not much difference from when there were actual contracts. Back in the contract days though you just paid some amount for the phone up front that was discounted, and you could still cancel any time, you just owed some prorated amount for the phone at that time for "breaking" the contract.

Now they are smarter and you are on the hook for the whole amount essentially, as you pay tax on the full price up front, then they contribute a little bit each month. If you want to leave early or get a different phone, you have to pay off the remaining balance and give up your remaining credits.

It's a contract, as far as how cell phone contracts used to go, in everything but name. Some might say it's even worse than they used to be. I was fine with the 24 month but 36 month is silly. So much can happen in that time and risk of phone failure only goes up. It's like financing a car for 84 months which some people are doing now. You are getting more and more likely to have some major repair needed while still owing money, just makes no sense.
That's why most local sellers (regular folks) trying to unload their unpaid phones for sale as soon as new version comes out 🙄. People first sign in into these "deals" but then next year when something newer comes out they want to switch but can't unless paying off remaining in full, on top of regular scams like reporting them stolen after the sale to get insurance replacement it makes very hard to sell for honest sellers as well though because there's just too much risk involved and it's not easy sometimes to check for existing balance tied to phone since companies would rather make you buy another device from them than fix the issue with the one your bought elsewhere.

When are people going to learn that that a bill credit is a garbage deal that locks you in for years. Upfront credit or rebate back or NO DEAL. Must be the same people that pay dealer market adjustments and have a car loan 10 years. Suckers

It's so rare to see upfront credit or rebate deals anymore though, unless maybe you're switching services. Not many options.

It depends on how many they sell between now and November. It's too early to say right now. There will be the usual stampede of fanbois snapping up the NEWEST iThingy for the first month or so. The iPhone 15 will be hard to come by in the near future because of that. Want the iPhone Pro? Order one today and you'll see it in mid-October. iPhone Pro Max? Mid-November.

Globally, there are 250 million iPhones that are in use today that are > 4 years old. These are the folks who will decide whether the iPhone 15 is a hit or a flop. Will they upgrade now, or wait? Is it worth it to them to spend > $1,000 (or your eternal soul for future credits to your account) to get a better camera and a USB-C connector? Only time will tell. There are more reasons than usual to be concerned about this iPhone's potential. I've spelled them out in other threads only to be savaged by the Apple fanbois so I'll leave it at that.

Explain yourself then because there is no similarity to ADM's or 10 year loans.

I don't plan to switch carriers.
Current phone is 3 years old.
I usually follow a 3 or so year upgrade plan.
New phone is $1199.

I either pay $1199 + tax outright, or I can take advantage of their bill credits and pay $11/mo for 3 years ($396 + original tax), all at 0% interest.

I'll await your logic.

I'm dumping T Mobile too many data breaches. They just had another the 8th since I've been with them.

Plus contract for 2 or 3 years of overpriced service.

Always compare the 3 years of service that you are forced to pay to get discounted phone with other carriers. Total 3 year cost. Include the resale value of phone you turn in.

Verizon, ATT are very expensive when you get a discounted phone and get trapped in 3 year contract.

And you pay $1800 more over 3 years compared to prepaid services.
