T-Mobile was better. 250 port in credit + 150 shop card. Up to 1000 for trade in.
Does this require Go5G plans? Thanks

That sucks! We have a military discount now but on an old plan. I don't like what they're doing and if at one point I have to switch plans or they remove my discount I'm gone.
max 2 lines is for the student discount.

Just watch out for the required plan upgrade unless you a) don't care or b) are already on one of the newer ones.

For me, I would need to spend $20 more a month coming from Play More Unlimited. So they give me $830 over 36 months while charging me $720 more over that same time period. That makes this deal worth $110 over 36 months in my case, not considering the shop card which covers the activation and perhaps my time dealing with the kiosk, though I'm being generous considering past kiosk experiences.

Again, your case may be different but watch out for those new plans which really do not offer much more over the iPhone 12 era plans.
I have the unlimited plans anyway. Also, batteries are getting weak on the 12's, so for me it's a win. Of course YMMV.

One data point, I'm on the $30 monthly plan w/ 30 months bill credit signed up 2 years ago. Tax and fees for CA is another $5/month. Vzw also raised price to $33/mon. My line gets deprioritized when congested. Regret signing up for this. Will transfer out once my contract expires

How does the trade in work? Is it done on site at the time of purchase or can you mail your phones in later?

Also, does anyone know when this offer expires?

Since i already have Verizon i'm unable to get the $1k discount for my trade in, my 2020 SE 64gb gets me a $415 trade value which is certainly more than i could sell it for on the open market

Total monthly with the required new plan upgrade and 15 Pro would be $10 more than i'm paying now (going from $93 to $103)

Do i need a new phone? No. However it seems like a pretty good deal, going to think it over

AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon

Top 3 carriers

All only offering 36 month "trade in deals" for this year's iPhone

Last year was the final year Verizon offered 24 months for a new phone "contract" and now that is over

I got my $830, will use the phone for 2 years, then pay the phone off and loss out on like $250 of discounts but at least I am not forced to keep a 2 year old phone any longer than I need to.

So yeh 36 months sucks but you pay it off early, give up some of that discount, and upgrade early. For most they will keep the phone and 24 vs 36 doesnt matter but it's no surprise when the entire USA wireless system are running identical timed promos
You get $23/mo in credits… so, you would lose $275 if you cancel with 12 months left…

i tried to upgrade 1 of my 4 lines last week. Because my 3 other lines are on device payment plan, verizon could not approve my 4th line to use 36 payment option. So if I trade in and upgrade my 12 pro to get 15 pro, will i still get trade in credit $830? I am currently on play more unlimited plan

You have to sign up for the new Go5G plan which cost more than the Magenta. So if you are on Magenta plan you don't get this promotion. So, not better for existing customers.
yes, its a fake promo... its like putting the new phone om a layaway plan... i rather just basically buy the new hardware device than pay for it slowly by way of a jacked up plan price.

unless you planning to leave tmob before the break event point,

I currently have Verizon

To take advantage of the $1000 i would need to do the "new line", if upgrading it is only quoting me $415

I'm on a grandfathered unlimited plan, costs me $93/month, switching to their current $100/month unlimited plan would not be a huge deal.

Would i have to outright cancel my plan and then begin again as a new customer, or would changing plans cover it?
You can switch plans directly on the website. Or a rep could do it for you.

Stick with the old plan I guess if you want to power your house with unlimited hotspot.

I'd be curious what speeds/network you get. Probably "normal" 5G? (Not ultra wide band)

the key benefit in this deal and the Best Buy deal is the trade in of old phones. From apples trade in website, an iPhone 7 Plus is not eligible for trade in. Are you suggesting opening a new line or upgrading a line through Apple website can enable trade in value of an old iPhone like iPhone 7 plus?
you are correct - the 7s are not eligible through Apple so yeah if that is the goal than this might make more sense.

we are currently with verizon and have 5 lines. one of the lines is currently at $40/month, if I switch that plan to $42 a month I get 830 of a new phone, but end up pay $72 extra over 3 years.

so I get ~760 off a phone.how is that a bad deal?
Without pulling out a spreadsheet to crunch your numbers I don't know. I just know that when I wanted to upgrade last year, it didn't make sense for me to pay for a premium plan that I wasn't using to its full potential. After going from post paid to pre-paid $10/mo per line, I ended up with a net gain of $1,300 for 12 months after ditching the post paid plan.
