I put iPhone 7 imei for trade in and Verizon system can not recognize it

Did anyone tried to trade in iPhone 7?
If you open/add a new line, try trade in online and it will work. Verizon retailer at Costco can't process trade in old aged iPhone even if it shows any iPhone 3G and newer are qualified for $1000/830 trade in value. I didn't want to risk my trade in and other discounts with Costco, so I skipped their $250 cash card but I got new iPhone within 3 days after placing the order online. Dropping off iPhone 4 for trade in to local store and then I am all set for 2 unlimited plus with total $80/mo.

I was at Costco Verizon kiosk today, created a new account and added four lines. However the trade in credit can be applied only on one line. The rep and his boss do not know what to do. This promotion seems a scam, and the monthly due is higher than the website advertised.
Verizon postpaid adds another ~$7/mth in fees/taxes and the BS Economic Adjustment Surcharge

so at cost co - you can upgrde with anyphone? because on verizon.com and best buy, the list of phones for upgrading a line is smaller then for adding a new line.

Yes, the advertised prices included this BYOD credit. But the rep told me this credit is not stackable with new customers $1000 trade in credit. So either $540 or $1000. Plus the surcharge is high, about $8 per line for unlimited plus without perk.

I'm a few years out of the loop, but when I ran an AT&T the network prioritization was pretty clear.

Firstnet, Businesses, consumer postpaid, consumer prepaid, Cricket and the rest.

I'm happy you're experiencing great service on a low price plan, but your experience doesn't represent the priority put in place.
QCI for AT&T prepaid is actually higher than the unlimited starter postpaid plan, and is as good as nearly every AT&T postpaid plan except the highest one.

In other words, there is no downgrade in service for the $300 a year 16GB a month ATT prepaid plan. I'm not trying to sell anyone on a prepaid plan as I have no stake in it, but if the service/QCI/Priority is exactly the same as postpaid - why would a rational person pay $75 a month vs $25 a month to the same company? You could buy an iPhone 15/16/17 etc. full price including sales tax in 18 months with that savings.

See for yourself:

1. This is basically the same deal that I did on Verizon site except here you get some Costco money which would have been nice but I had to jump in due to being afraid of back orders. 2. 36months isn't great, but honestly the phone will last 3 years and I don't know anyone constantly changing carriers. I used to shy away from it until 2 years later I realized I could have just gotten the free phone I was still with them anyways. You generally find your best carrier for the are and that rarely changes. I changed one time and then after a year had to change back. 3. I think Xs and up is 830 and s10 and up. When I did it with verizon anyways if its with "ANY functioning iPhone (cracked screen is ok)" that seems very misleading, but I didn't know screen can be cracked.

I think the trade in credit depends on the plan on each line. Are all 4 lines Unlimited Ultimate? Their website is unclear if Unlimited Plus gets lower trade in credit or it just doesn't qualify for trade in credit at all.

Can you post if the iPhone 4 trade in works at Verizon?

Let's do the math on this one (for my case, feel free to plug in your own numbers)

I used the Verizon Taxes and surcharges estimator to guess at taxes/fees. https://www.verizon.com/support/t...estimator/

Verizon Unlimited Plus Plan
Total value = 2674.54

Versus

Buying new iPhone 1514.42 (including tax)
Keeping my current Visible plan $35/month (including taxes/fees) x 36 = 1260
Sell current iPhone myself -$350

Total Paid = 1514.42 + 1260 - 350 = 2424.42 or 2774.42 (if I decide to keep my phone)
Good math, but that's only a $250 difference over 3 years. I would have no problem paying $7/mo more for Verizon just because of the limited Hotspot with Visible. If that doesn't matter to you, then you can definitely see how Visible is a better deal than a single line plan with Verizon.

You can order online but trade-in to local store for instant value confirmation? Did you have to indicate with your online order that you'd be trading in?

Just came back, got my old iPhone SE traded in for max $830 credit, which surprised the rep. But an iPhone 8 can only get $400 credit.

The rep is super busy with lots of people coming for this deal. Best to do all your homework on Verizon website and know what you exactly want before you go

Apparently there are no deals on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but that is okay because Jerry (YouTube) determined that the vaunted titanium case does nothing to prevent the screen from cracking. The iPhone 15 Pro had no such problems. Apple made the screen easier to replace at a cost of only $200 because it is 5x's more likely to crack.
