Ok, I just got back from Costco (today Friday Sept 29th) to sign up for this offer, yes it is still active (even though the website page doesn't work anymore). I actually had to visit two different Costco locations, as the first Verizon kiosk rep had no idea what they were doing - they kept insisting my trade-in phone needed to turn on in order to validate the IMEI (even though reps that I spoke to on phone and brick & mortar stores confirmed a dead phone was ok to trade as long as the IMEI, which is printed on the SIM Tray, can be validated that it is not reported stolen). The Verizon rep at the 2nd Costco location was clear in their explanation and knew what they were talking about.

My situation: Opening up 2 new lines of service on the Unlimited Ultimate (trading in two dead iPhone 6S and iPhone X devices with no major screen cracks or swollen battery damage), so that we can get the full $1000 trade-in credit per line. I am purchasing two new iPhone 15 Pros from Verizon and porting over from AT&T.

Step by Step Process:
  1. Costco rep asked me for plan I wanted and my AT&T phone numbers and the two iPhone devices I was trading in. Even though the phones cannot power on, they used the IMEI numbers that are printed on the SIM card tray (I also had the original boxes that also show the IMEI number). All this information was entered into the portal/app that they have on the tablets they use.
  2. Rep then asked to use my own phone to access the following site to enter in details about my billing and credit check info: https://lifeonverizon.verizonwire...redit.html
  3. On their own tablet portal/app, once they enter the IMEI to capture the trade-in device model info, it tells you how much credit you will receive. In my case, it showed $1000 credit per device/line. You also see a line item listed for the $250 Costco Shop card per line ($100 if you are upgrading an existing line). Once I validated the info, I need to sign on the tablet.
  4. The rep also asks for my AT&T account number and Transfer PIN that will be required for the porting process.
  5. The iPhone 15 Pros are mailed to me, along with envelopes to send in my trade-in devices (Costco reps do not handle your phones). When the new phones arrive, I activate at home, which will start my Verizon service, and I mail in the trade-in devices to Verizon. The trade-in credits will begin appearing after a few billing cycles (so for you 36 month lock in complainers, you're stuck with Verizon for probably ~38 months). The Costco Shop Cards will arrive via email 90 days after start of service (to ensure I do not cancel my service under the 90 day allowable time under the terms of the Costco Verizon retailer before receiving gift cards).
So leaving the store, I received an itemized receipt per line (which shows the plan, new iPhone order, line item about the Costco Shop card, the trade-in device details, and the trade in credit per month on each line) - it is emailed to me and they printed me the same receipt. Overall, I was confident in the process and rep, and I feel like my only risk here is if the trade-in phones get rejected by Verizon for some reason (something I have inquired with multiple Verizon reps and Verizon reddit forums and said is not an issue as long as the IMEI is clean).

Here is what the receipt will look like (it comes to you formatted with images and logos):

Est. new monthly $205.22 (poster note: this does not include the $10 per line credit for auto-pay. Also, the $1000 credit doesn't cover the full price of the 256 GB model, which is $1099, so there's roughly $10 total included in this estimate per month for the price the two phones).
A one-time activation fee of $70.00 will appear on your next bill

If he decides to pay off and move to another carrier in a year, he can probably resell the iPhone 15 for $800 next year.. making a point that your not trapped into Verizon with a huge loss of money

Ppl complaining about the 36 months needs to realize your not really locked into a contract like the old days of carrier subsidized phones
Yup exactly whatenzoharikari said. Your iphone 14/15 will likely still be worth the full amount when trading it. Right now it looks like carriers are capping it at iphone 11, so next year prob iphone 12.

I knew about that offer too but I was just trying to make a point that you aren't really locked into, or losing money should you choose to leave Verizon in 1 year (or any time before 3 years), due to the extra $250 Costco card.

It's more for the 'oh 3 year contract" folks.

Will they accept the phone with a damaged screen that barely works at all or a phone with a swollen battery and the screen bulged out?

Here is my math. Not factoring in taxes:

With Verizon deal:
Iphone 15 pro: 1099
Iphone 13 trade in: -1000
Monthly plan difference vs if I were to just get visible: 50x36 months (75 on verizon vs 25 visible)

Total cost for iphone 15 pro= $1900

What am i missing?
Let me first say these phone deals are vary by person, each person has his or her preference and values. The service locations also plays a big factor. It is almost impossible to do an apple to apple comparison

That said, let's figure out what you have at the end of 3 years

With Verizon
- a free iphone 15 pro you get to use for 3 year
- a 250 Costco card
- a iphone 15 pro you can most likely trade it in for 800 credit, or worse sell it at market price
- you are on the most reliable and fastest network considered by most people, my personal experience included. If you travel the country and the world as much as I do, it is not even close

With whatever you have
- a 5 years iPhone 13. Let's hope it still works and battery still good
- a cheaper plan
The that's all I got

I don't know where you got the 75 Verizon price but many of us are able to get close to 40/months with multi lines discount + other incentives. The difference for me is < 10/month compared to those other carriers

If I would you, I would buy a cheap iPhone for < 50, trade that one in for $1000 credit, and sell your iPhone 13 for $500

My understanding is they won't take a phone that has a swollen battery or one with major screen damage. They likely aren't trying to resell your trade in (my phone had water damage resulting in phone that won't turn on), so doesn't seem like a liability issue.. but maybe they recycle parts somehow? Unsure reason.

weird... noticed that too. Verizon can't be found on Costco site anymore.
I think I caused this page to be removed. The website said something about calling a number to order and get the costco benefits (i.e, the shop card) but when I called the listed number the verizon sales people all said they could not obtain the shop card deals. I then contacted costco.com support and told them about this discrepancy, and hours later they took down the web page. Deal seems only available in-store.

I pay $40/mo for my verizon line. I *literally* can't save "$50/mo" with anyone else. So yes, your math is 100% incorrect.
Click on the link OP provided. The cheapest plan option I see is $75 plan

edit: I was looking at Verizon website ... like like Verizon doesn't offer $40 plan when trading in

Does the devices I am trading in have to be unlocked? I never got them unlocked from AT&T.

I saw that "your approval is needed" after I already left Costco. It was followed right after with a "your order is complete" e-mail so I assume they somehow bypassed that step?

I didn't get any print-out, they just said it'll come by e-mail. I got a few e-mails directly from Verizon.

Did your receipt indicate you'd be getting a $250 or $100 Costco GC?
I also completed a transaction at costco and never got a printed receipt and the only emails were from Verizon and did not contain nearly as much details as the documents I was asked to read and sign.

I wondered about that.. when trading in they check the IMEI number to see if it is "clean" - does that mean it needs to be unlocked from a carrier?

I get a 404 now when I visit the page, looks like Costco removed the info?

Anybody have the list of stores?

EDIT: Just saw the info in the wiki, thanks to whoever copy and pasted it in.

Does the phone you trade in have to be active on your account. This is what Verizon told me.

I wanna use an iPhone I have laying around
Ther agent also told me the same, but when I pressed the issue they called their manager and was told otherwise.

Beware of these offers. These are click baits. Lire you with "free" iPhone but nothing is free. They put you on expensive plan and tie you for 3 years "soft contract". If you terminate connection in between , you pay balance on new phone as your trade in is then taken at face value. For eg iPhone XR actual trade in is $90 say but they compensate your monthly trade in credit to Match new iPhone monthly emi. Terminate and then you end up paying new iPhone cost minus your actual trade in (90$) which you will exhaust in first 3 months btw. Take an unlocked phone on offer better

Looks like you didn't do the research. I still come out ahead with this 3 year "soft contract" no matter what.
