Wondering if you could help me out as I don't have verizon but an uncle of mine does.
Trying to see his best option...costco vs Best Buy.

He has a single line for verizon and on an old rate plan that's around $80 per month after fees. so he could trade in any device and get a pro max for $1,000 or $830 off depending on the plan he picks. Best Buy would be good since I have total tech and he would get AppleCare on his device.

Costco would be good since it seems like they offer some gift cards but I'm not sure if that's still active since it's a new month/offer

thanks for any help/advice
If this is upgrading a line then the max would be $830 with Ultimate Plan and $700 for Ultimate Plus and $200 on Unlimited Welcome. You can use the bestbuy link posted a few posts above to see all the values.

As far as which is better, they are pretty even. Everything will be the same whether you go to Costco or Bestbuy except the following:

$250 - Gift Card from Costco
Apple Care included with Total Tech - Bestbuy ($200 value??)

Up to you what you think is worth more

thanks, yea, it would be an upgrade.
I have a few older iPhones laying around that I could give one to him.
He might go with the ultimate plan, that 3 year contract sucks though.

I think I read earlier in the thread for Costco, some got AirPods and the Apple TV which was a nice bonus.

Would you happen to know if he can add me to his account and I could go do this upgrade for him at Best Buy? He usually works until later night. hopefully I can get him a good deal

thanks again

I'm not with Verizon but I believe he can assign you as an account manager. FYI... I took a look at the Bestbuy link and I don't believe you can trade in any phone with upgrades. You would need an Iphone SE (3rd gen) or Iphone XS and newer to get the full value.

I believe airpods deal is dead. The Apple TV is through Verizon. I think you would need to submit the rebate with Verizon directly once you activate the account to receive the Apple TV.

thanks for your help.
Yea I noticed the se 3 or iPhone X and above.
I have an se3 from the Walmart deal and also a cheap iPhone 11 from a previous deal. Might give him the 11

I'm personally thinking of switching my 5 line tmobile account to verizon with this deal which would then qualify for Any iPhone. currently paying $165 for 5 lines. I think with verizon it might be around $250. I have to get a better break down on plan pricing in my situation.

thanks again.

I'm in similar situation. I think I would be paying a little bit more on Verizon but once you factor in the gift cards it makes it worth it to switch. Glad they brought back the any iPhone deal. Just wondering if they will add anything for Black Friday to sweeten the deal.

I believe so. I went there on Nov. 1st and it was still available. My understanding the $250 gift card has been going for a while (maybe since summer) so I don't think it would end now, but you never know.

I should reiterate that single lines with Verizon (and just about any post paid carrier) is generally not worth it. Overpaying $40+ a month over 2 years is the retail cost of a flagship phone.

With that out of the way go with whoever gives you most value (Costco GC or Applecare - although I wonder if you can even use your total tech for your Uncle's account).

Slickdealing with Verizon is about stacking retail promotions/sales (Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Apple, Samsung, etc.) on top of low value device (any damaged phones, cracked S10s purchased through eBay for $50, etc) trade in promos that give high value bill credits ($800/$1000).

Depending on what plan your Uncle's on he may not even need to switch to the new plans. Personally I hate the new plans.

Yea, I've mentioned to him that Tmobile always has good deals but he is strict on having verizon since he is a trucker and gets the best service with them.

Although, sometimes he calls me and the call breaks up. So I'm not sure if it's his verizon service or my Tmobile service.

It looks like for me, my bill would go up around $80 per month. I did see earlier that if you have verizon fios you get a $10 discount per line which is kinda crazy. I'm not sure if it's fios or their new 5g home internet that is required for the discount though

I have a few old iPhone 4's from a crazy trade in deal that Apple had several years back

One thing I noticed, on Best Buy app, it shows you can only pick from iPhone 7 and up when you click on 'get $1,000 in credits…'

US Mobile's $25 plan has the same QCI as Verizon post paid, i.e. same prioritization. However there's no domestic roaming so as a trucker it might be a deal breaker.

Verizon offers multiple ways to get discounts via Military, First Responder, Teachers, and FIOS (not 5g home internet). If you qualify for a discount and have 5+ lines Verizon becomes very competitive with prepaid when you factor in device trade in promos. Plus you get all the benefits of post paid, prioritization and the aforementioned domestic roaming, and perks like Disney Plus (legacy plans).

Trade in is through Verizon so you can ignore the BB app. Verizon's website is reliable to mock new/upgrades to get an idea of what devices qualify for which amount by going through the order process.

I should add that as mentioned in this thread there is a $200/line switch promo to help offset of the cost if you are contemplating switching from Tmo.

Is this $200/line Switch Promo still available ? I could not find it on Verizon website today ( I saw it last week) and the Prep at Costco did not know anything about it.

That could help offset the taxes for each line

Do you get auto pay discount per line as well? So you get 20 off each line on top of the multi line discount? Do you have plus or ultimate on how many lines? How much do you pay per line?
