Enel x way software really sucks. It's more difficult to use than the juicenet software that they forced everyone to upgrade from

Back when EVs were new and car software was dumb, JuiceBox made sense (also their cost was $300). Now cars have all the features this charger has built in, so it doesn't make sense to spend this much on a 'smart' charger when you can buy a dumb evse level 2 from Costco or on Amazon for like $200

Man… It costs so much to insure an EV even with a good driving record and past 30 years old.

I guess it makes sense to drive an EV in CA.
Elsewhere? Maybe not so much.
I traded in a 2001 Toyota Echo when I bought my Bolt EV. My insurance actually dropped. For some reason, that Echo had a very high insurance premium.

It's only cheaper because of subsidies on the EVs and Tax on gas, government manipulation. Tax payers that can't afford an EV…are paying for your luxuries.

The oil industry got like 20b in subsidies last year. Friend you are falling for an big oil talking point.

Absolutely. One of the worst mobile apps I've ever used. My charging overall experience is better if I never open the app.

Check for rebates from your local utility. I got a JuiceBox for $129 after rebates. Had to hook it up once to allow the utility to "control" it toi get the rebate, then installed it where I don't have Wifi anyway, and set it to always on. The app sucks anyway.

Great high quality EVSE, and in my case, at an even better price.

Would have been cool if someone actually had an opinion about the charger and whether it's a good deal…

If you have a Tesla, I'd buy a tesla charger.

If you have a non-tesla, I'd buy that new dual charger plug from Tesla. The dual charger supports the non tesla standard but future proofs you since all vehicles will be going to the tesla plug by 2025.

I don't understand why these off brands exist. They're not less expensive and they don't offer extra features not already built into the vehicles software.

Cheaper than at Costco. As for quality, I don't have a whole lot of insight. My work has several of these installed in the parking garage and so far they've all kept up pretty well with very frequent usage. I think last time I plugged in, I was getting like 6.6kwh? No clue about the software though.

Counterpoint - I have a 22 Pacifica Hybrid and my car software is still dumb. You can't say, for instance, "don't charge on weekdays between 2pm and 7pm" (which is what I need in the summer). What you can say is, "turn off the charger at 2pm on Monday" which doesn't help if you plug in at 6pm and also means you need 10 entries for the whole week. Maybe it's useful for other use cases, but it 100% is not useful for avoiding peak summer rates.

My level 1 charger is plugged into a Kasa smart plug that has a sane scheduling system, but that's no help for level 2 so I definitely need something with a solid app. So the feedback here is helpful.

Sounds like someone is jealous of the higher torque at lower speeds and faster acceleration of an EV compared to their toxin spewing dino-mobile.
No, sounds to me like someone doesn't believe in climate change, and truly thinks that EV subsidies are paying for "luxuries" instead of "our grandchildren being able to go outside in the summer"

My insurance only increased 200$/year and I was going from an 8 year old vehicle to a new EV. It would have gone up that much no matter what new car I bought.
