I just posted along your lines. My 55 plus plan for 2 phones would increase $ 10. That's the same $ 5 per phone they told you. You made a good point. The ability to get the best trade in deals makes it worthwhile. However, they will come up with a new plan and suddenly you won't get the best trade in deal.

So I'm also on Magenta Max. I have 9 lines: four paid lines and five free lines (from various free lines promos) + Insider Hookup.

Twitter Rep told me that Go5G Plus would cost $5 more per month per paid line, so +$20/mo over what I pay now (which I think is $128/mo for service plan). So an extra $240 per year.

As far as I can see, the benefits I would get are:
1) 50GB of hotspot instead of 40GB (useful as I sometimes do run out on two lines)

2) maintain the ability to upgrade with the best trade in deals every 2 years on 9 lines.

Assuming we upgrade most of those lines regularly, getting the best promo trade in credits, that seems maybe not bad?

Very willing to be talked down from the ledge here. Am I crazy to consider changing?

There's no phone promo big enough to justify changing a legacy Tmobile plan to Go5G.
I think that depends on which legacy plan and everyone's individual circumstances.

I was on the One plan and switched to the Go5G Plus plan. My free lines transferred over and it cost me about $35 more a month. I was paying extra for Netflix which is now free and also get Apple TV+ for free now along with some other perks.

I switched because I needed 4 new phones so while I'm paying about $720 more over the next 24 months, I'm getting about $3200 in value for new phones, so definitely worth it in my situation. Being able to upgrade every 2 years is another nice perk that I'll definitely take advantage of.

I moved 2 lines from Mint, but did not get the $250 per line as it was coming from a TMo MVNO.

False. I had a 2 line one plus promo plan with 20% discount, at $80. I now have Go5g plus with 2 free lines for $130 a month. Subtract the Netflix that I'm already paying I'm at $118. So for $38 more per month I have two more lines at I can upgrade every 2 years. I just traded in an iPhone 11 pro for $1000 to get the iPhone 15 pro for $0. I been used Costco and got the $75 which covered the tax. $1000 / 24 months is $41 dollars. So yeah.. I'm spending more per month but basically for anyone who is already paying for Netflix and wants a new phone every 2 years. I'm actually paying less...
you seem to be getting few promotions. did u add those free lines after switching the plan? wondering if the free lines continue if someone switch from magenta1.0 to go5G plans?

The cost of these new plans will far outweigh any promo benefit.

I'm thinking about this too. Currently I have an old freedom unlimited plan from sprint that costs me $65/mo. Unlimited yadda yadda but it appears I can get the go5g plus for $80/mo with autopay and employer discount. Seems worth it alone with the Netflix and Apple TV.

Not sure if I can even combine the iPhone 15 savings if I convert my plan, but that would be an added bonus if possible

I got the free lines when I was o magenta max for a few months. Right you could get $150 per month for 3 lines on go 5g plus (it's with 1 free line)

I have 2 lines on ATT , planning to switch to T-mobile.
As I see the deals, I am clear on the switch promo that T mobile will pay me $650 per line .

However, I am not able to understand the new Iphone offer. It looks like I have to trade-in in order to get any new Iphone offer? is my understanding correct. I want to keep my current phones.

I think it depends on the legacy plan, but for example, my "family" of six lines pays about $30 per line with unlimited data and netflix. but with autopay and an business discount (from an employer that the user hasn't worked for in 2+ years), we actually pay less than $25/month for all that jazz. on the rare occasion I talk to a t-mo employee who wants to try and get me on a new plan, they end up giving up and saying they can't beat what I currently have. they'll have to pry this plan from my cold, dead hands.
hoping with the final of the merger they don't transition all of us to new tmob plans from sprint (sero) like what they forcing with the autopay discount no credit cards

It is $5/ paid line if you don't have Insider. Else it is $4/line. Also, if you have older Insider and especially with 9-line bundle, discounts are slightly more as T-Mo calculates incorrectly.

I changed mine as of today with the new bill cycle. I have same as you, with 5 free lines in first 9 on Magenta Max, with a total of 6 free lines out of 12. My bill increased $19/month. I had upgraded to Magenta Max only a year back for high trade-in values. Sucks to have to change again.

How much do you pay now for 9-lines with Insider $88 or $128? That help identify if you have old or new Insider.

For Go5G Plus, it would be $99 (Old) or $144 (New) after Insider discount. Check out the sub-Reddit for more details.

Yes, please don't change your plan just for the sake of better upgrade.
T mobile constantly changes their "best plan". They went from Simple choice, to One, to magenta and now go5G.
They told me last year that magenta max would get the best trade in value vs legacy plan.
Now its go5g.
If you add that $20/ month for go5G, next year it'd be something else.
Stay with legacy plans, you save more per month.

Every time I see one these deals, I consider it but have to pass with my T-Mobile One Plus plan with 6 lines, 2 iPads and a watch for about 150 and less when the kickbacks stay under. 😂

You can't. They discontinued old plans.
