Some cables only charge and don't do data.... the really cheap ones.

Perfect for the car/plane. I think if you're at home or work, you'd have 5' and above MagSafe or USB-C to USB-C. Most people interested in this deal aren't looking for USB-A to USB-C at home. This fills the gap perfectly.
