Model SM-S536DL, once unlocked, can be used on other carriers if they have whitelisted this model. AT&T have not, so it won't work on AT&T or its MVNOs.
This model is very locked down, so you cannot root, bootloader unlock, or use ODIN to replace the ROM. You can use ADB to uninstall any bloat apps.

Service is preloaded to the SIM (usually preinstalled in the phone). Activate the SIM / IMEI on Tracfone.com to activate the phone and service. Once the phone is activated (by activating the SIM / IMEI), the 60 day unlock counter starts.

Since the plan came with the phone, you will have a very hard time getting your plan back. They always want to see when you last BOUGHT the plan.
Why didn't they just fix it in the first place? You're correct they just don't care about fixing the problem once it falls outside whatever script they have. Any sort of common sense/logic falls on deaf ears. Their goal isn't to help you at this point, but make you give up through whatever means possible. The best recourse IS an informal FCC complaint which is very much free and was extremely effective for me.
Tracfone CSR is so horrible it should be criminal.

The distinction between the two has gotten a lot fuzzier over the last decade, as NVM speeds are approaching RAM speeds. Future computers will likely do away with the distinction entirely, and applications will be designed to leverage the relative permanence of 'memory'.
Question 2 - I also have an existing tracfone SIM which is valid till mid next year (that I bought as part of A03s deal and the phone has already been unlocked), can that be used on another unlocked phone? Basically trying to find out if Tracfone SIMs can be switched around like say a Mint mobile SIM, or does it involve a call to CSR as it is tied to phone IMEI.
Wondering if other family members could switch to Tracfone keeping their phones. Please let me know. Thanks

Unlocked phones use BYOP sims for TF (only cost $1). You need to activate new phone sim keeping current number & move active line to another phone.
You will then choose "Phone number" then "I want a new number" or "I want to keep my number".
Ive never ported a number to tracfone but seems the standard practice

I am in overseas and I am using a VPN and Tracfone still is not allowing access even while using a VPN.
