Ordered. Used student discount which saves even more than the sneakers20 code. So not quite as good of a deal but hoping the shoes are comfortable.

I bought a pair of shoe laces which got the total to right over $75 with tax.

I have had a pair of these for about two years. They are comfortable but I wouldn't call them waterproof or even water resistant. Expect wet socks even when just walking through tall dewy grass in the morning.

Appreciate the insight. That's a deal breaker for me.

There's some 3 pack low cut socks available for $12.99 in size L/XL only though.

If you want Merrell and waterproof I can recommend the Moab 3 Prime. Quite a bit more expensive than these, but I used these last winter and they were bulletproof. I played in about 8" deep snow with my kids and my feet remained dry and warm. The grip is great in slushy conditions. They have a thermo version that has more insulation, but my feet never got cold with a pair of thick socks on. They are offering 30% off all Moab shoes right now with code MOAB30.

I'll second their statement, Merrells quality has noticeably decreased. As with many other outdoor brands they seem to be focusing on pumping out "trendy" stuff and pandering instead building a core of practical and functional products

I dont even bother buying MHW anymore because their quality control is a dumpster fire. The last 2 Merrells i bought (both Moab 3) look destroyed after 6 months of casual weekend trail walks.

I dont know what brand (if any) is worth buying these days

I have these shoes and haven't experienced issues with water getting in yet. They kept me dry in the rain but if you're standing in a deep puddle they'll probably get wet.

Counterpoint. This is what my pair of Moab 3 Prime looks like as of right now. Excuse the dirt as I just finished digging some holes for a few bushes. This is after I wore them nearly everyday last winter in Northern Illinois. I did several hikes this spring at Starved Rock, Tallulah Gorge, Cloudland Canyon, and Devil's Lake. Throw in a few shorter hikes on some small local trails where it was a little too wet for my trail runners. The only thing I do after a hike is hose them down and let them air dry. The third picture shows the only slightly loose thread I could find on both shoes.

Hiked a little over 200 miles in the low version of these over 14 days. They still look pretty much brand new after that. No issues with Merrell quality. Their footbeds however have been inconsistent recently but nothing that would stop me from buying them.
