FYI, if you are looking at the "FineWoven" cases, they are HORRIBLE and NOT a good replacement for the leather cases. I've used the Apple leather cases for years but the new FineWoven is the worst Apple product I've used - after just a few days it's already permanently dirty, has a ring of little metal particles embedded in the shape of the magsafe ring, and I've dropped my phone more in a weekend than I had in the past year because it's so slippery.

The FineWoven cases are so bad that Apple has removed the review feature from the Apple Store site, and Amazon is limiting new reviews because the reviews are so negative.

Yeah, it's nuts they will stop their leather cases, I've been using those on every gen since 11 🤨

Nomad Leather cases are reviewing really well and look very good/similar to the apple leather cases. Prices are comparable also.

The darker colors on the apple leather definitely wear better than the lighter ones because the areas where the coating rubs off isn't visible. These cases just don't patina very well unfortunately but they do feel nice in the hand and in my experience they offer good protection. If you're after patina and want to save a few bucks, check out the brand YMW on Ali-expresss. For $20-$30 you can get a really nice genuine leather case that has excellent fit/finish and will patina well. All the other leather brands like bullstrap and Andar are sourced from China anyways, you are just paying a premium for the brand and in some cases the customer service (bullstrap does well here).

Looks like these are sold out via Amazon… reading the comments I guess they're being discontinued. I've had my leathercase for two years and the bottom leather is peeling off. It's still in decent shape but I ordered a replacement anyway. Decent price and I plan on upgrading soon so didn't want to spend that much on a new case. This is cheaper than what Amazon has listed for apple silicone cases. Thanks!

I've owned bullstrap and nomad leather cases. Both are solid options. A little thicker unfortunately compared to apples leather cases. Too bad Apple is cutting leather cases due to "going zero net" 🤷 ♂️

Agreed, FineWoven is pure shit. I'm disappointed in Apple these cases. I went with a Mujjo case myself, closest to Apple but one ups it by adding an aluminum ring for the camera instead of apples plastic one. Also covers the bottom port unlike Bullstrap.

Look elsewhere for leather cases. From the 12 and on Apple leather cases have been garbage and don't hold up. I moved on to Andar and the cases are so much better.

We just got iPhone 15's (base), and the otter box cases we got said they were compatible with 13-15. I don't know if this is the situation with Apple branded stuff, but I imagine it would be; the camera cutout is what might pose an issue. Shame there aren't any base 13 or 14 cases here. I'd probably pick up a few colors. Wife's mini case stood up to daily abuse really well for almost two years now.

Yeah, Apple has discontinued their use of leather entirely as per their keynote. I think the environmental factor behind it is fair, however the "fine woven" product that seems to be replacing it doesn't seem to hold up to even basic scratching. They're asking the same $60 for the case as when it was leather

FWIW, I had an Apple leather case on an iPhone 12 for a time. Their case design fully covers the bottom of the phone. I did not care for how that felt and returned the case. Since the screen is recessed below the front edge of the case, I found that the bottom edge of the case interfered with the swipe-up-from-the-bottom gesture that one frequently performs. It wasn't drastic interference, but I would hit it with my thumb every time and it was kind of annoying.

I've been using a Caudabe Sheath case with my 14 that I like quite well. While it does enclose the bottom it doesn't stuck up above the screen as much, and I haven't found it to be an issue like the Apple leather case was. If I was going to use a leather case again I would either want one that fits more like this Caudabe case, or go with a design like the Ryan London with an open bottom and no interference.
