I got this from Lowe's for $40 when they were switching from Hitachi to Metabo. Great impact driver.

This is my tool line. Their battery system is really good and the battery powered nailers? Forgetdaboudit, so good.

$40 is a deal. This is a great impact driver. Price is actually $58.99 on Amazon. Lifetime warranty make it a good investment. Metabo has very good customer service. Metabo battery 18v are known to degrade a little faster that other tool brand like Dewalt, that is why the battery warranty only 1-2 years. Overall metabo HTP is a great line. Looks like they trying to clear out the 18v to make room for 36v line. This pair with 36v battery make it a beast more than capable driver for pro and average consumer. The battery that is included with this kit is small & this kit make it a good entry for those new to metabo.

They are/were on clearance at lowes this summer. You can get a comparable model for $45. The 18V triple hammer and Hammer Drill kit were going for $129. Sadly, some lowes do not have metabo tools aside from the framing/nailing stuff.

I have an almost full set of Metabo HPT cordless tools, a mix of 18v and 36v, all bought on clearance at the local Lowe's for 75% off. I love those maniacs. The only one I've paid more than $35 for was a framing nailer kit with two batteries that was around $100, marked down from $399. Great bang for the buck. On the down side, the local store clearanced them out for good -- except for the nailers -- and won't be restocking them. There's a Menards down the street that still carries them, so at least they're still available in town.

(Lowes is always YMMV. You have to go in in person and check their "Back Aisle" for tools with yellow clearance stickers. Stock and markdowns vary from store to store. And resellers might have swooped in and bought everything already. I hate those guys.)

Definitely YMMV.. Even at the posted price, the drill on the OP's deal is great if you do not mind brand names. It takes away the need to seek them out.

No, Metabo and Hitachi are not interchangeable.
But Metabo HPT and Hitachi are interchangeable.

Metabo and Metabo HPT, though owned by the same conglomerate, are independently run companies without shared compatibility.
