I can't believe they still only give you 8gb of storage. And it's basically gone after 4 app installs 🤦 ♂️

I have all kind of cameras and other devices that the fire sticks work with that's why I use them Roku nothing. And I could install third party apps on the Fire Stick and many that I use I can't use on the Roku Roku pretty much is it closed system It's pretty much for dumb people
Have to agree. Still have 3 top of the line Roku's as well as 2 GCCw/GTV that I switched to from Rokus. Now have 2 Firestick 4K max devices installed as primary devices, with old Roku's on second input (to quickly switch back and forth to IP Camera's with a single button push), while GCCwGTV reside in guest rooms.(guests like the 3rd party app installed)

Biggest issue against Roku's is closed system. Plus they don't handle the highest end attachments as reliably well, such as some Atmos and Vision. However, camera's have been easy to use with all devices if your camera supports IP Camera Viewer Pro. Works great on all platforms.

GCCw/GTV is almost as good as Firestick, but it still has issues with some DV from Netflix.

Firestick 4K max just works with everything.

For tech people:
1. Firestick 4K max for reliability and 3rd party app support
2. GCCw/GTV for same, but can be glitchy
3. Roku

For tourists or guests that don't even own a PC (not needed, but an example of their non-tech understanding)
Just get a Roku

I'm extremely technical and the ATV is my preferred platform. I own shield/roku/FTV, but ATV is my go-to. I just want to watch content not jack with sideloading crap. Plex/Netflix/Hulu all work great.

If all you want to do is steam every day common sites, why would anybody waste a dime on something like this fire starter stick? Everybody's TV already does this, it's already built in.

The performance on these is usually miles ahead of the TV built in performance.

Worked for me. Also had an old trade in 20% credit I hadn't used. Didn't auto apply, but chat refunded me the $10 after order.

$15 for the new 4K stick, not bad
How long did the chat take?

Performance and UI. The built-in apps typically lag far behind in development/features and are painful to use within a year or two - if not on day 1.

I hadn't seen this post but the other day I got the 2023 Fire 4k Max for $35 with %20 trade credit + $5 instant gift card. It comes with 16GB memory, unlike all other models with 8GB.
I haven't read thru all the posts so sorry if I duplicated someone else's post.

I see, well can't argue with that! I think for my $50 worth though, I'd just build/buy a rasberry pie and install whatever I want to it. Or spend a bit more for some prebuilt mini PC. In case you haven't noticed, I'm not really a fan of these fire starters/sticks. 😁

You're going to have to get some sort of remote for that too. In other words... you're not paying $50 total for that setup.

No, not me. Just use one of the wireless mice and keyboards I already own. Better than any remote! 😃

Evil amazon. Each year make an incremental change, release a new product while making older ones slower and sell about 20 Million units. Pay zero tax. Rinse and repeat.

If you login at your Amazon account via the link above. It will give you directly a discount code to apply for the new 4K. I bought several 4K the last few years and also have a 4K max that I bought three weeks ago that haven't configure yet. But they are giving me a $25 discount on the new 4K
Ditto!
