Lowest price I've seen in a while on the ELV dimmer version of these Lutron switches.

Description for Amazon:

Bring technology and style to your home with the Lutron Caseta ELV+ dimmer. Caseta by Lutron allows you to control your lights from anywhere within your home with the Pico remote control (sold separately) or from anywhere with your mobile device via the free app and Lutron Caseta Smart Hub (also sold separately). The Caseta ELV+ Dimmer allows you to recall your favorite light level with the new preset button for added convenience and is designed to control many loads types: 500-Watt of incandescent, halogen or electronic low-voltage, 400-Watt of magnetic low-voltage and 250-Watt of dimmable LED or dimmable CFL (neutral wire connection and 10-Watt minimum load required for all load types). Out of the box the dimmer is set to control ELV, incandescent, halogen and many compatible LEDs, however is phase selective the dimmer output can be changed for MLV and certain LED bulbs with simple button press programming. The Caseta ELV+ dimmer is a great solution for LED fixtures with integrated, built-in drivers, ELV track lights and problem LEDs that may prefer an ELV dimmer. To use in a multi-location application, replace the existing switch with a Pico remote control and wall plate adapter (both sold separately). Please note, wall plate for dimmer is also sold separately

Excellent price for a great switch. Note it does require a neutral unlike most of the other caseta switches. Dimming performance is excellent

Great deal for something that rarely goes on sale. I paid full price 3 months ago and would buy another if I needed one right now. Works great with my Halo LED wafer lights. DO NOT BUY USED. I bought 3 different "like new open box" from Amazon warehouse. One never was delivered, one had the ground wire and metal tabs broken off, the third had a cheap $45 Caseta swapped in place of this expensive switch.

šŸ˜‚ $85 for a single switch? And it requires a hub? That's just insane. Plenty of cheaper and easier to use options out there.

There are not many options for an ELV dimming capable smart switch. If you don't need that, then yes there are many less expensive options for a standard smart dimmer.

I'd appreciate hearing feedback if this would help with any of the following situations (all with existing regular Caseta switches):
- retrofit recessed LEDs with their own drivers that have an audible buzz noise, particularly at low light levels
- a hanging fixture with an LED bulb in it that will not completely turn off (stays about 5% bright when "off" with the main switch and pico)
- to get recessed can LEDs to dim lower than they presently do. Minimum brightness is still pretty bright)

Does not require a hub. You only need it if you plan on using an app with it. This switch was one of only a few that work with the low voltage Halo LED wafer lights I have. It is entirely dependent on what lights you plan on using that would warrant this model.

The retrofit is likely just a brand compatibility issue. Sylvania's give me trouble. Halo works great.
You need a Lutron MLC (minimum load capacitor) between the load side and the neutral for bulbs that don't shut completely off.
Finally, search for "adjusting trim on Lutron caseta" to adjust minimum brightness.

It sounds like this switch won't help any of my existing issues. You saved me money and the headache.

I've tried the MLC on the switch and didn't see any change.
For the minimum brightness on the recessed can lights, it's adjusted as low as it will go on the Caseta, but the minimum is not that low. The cans are Nora 4" Cobalt LED Adjustable Retrofit, and I thought they'd get quite a bit lower.
Edit: apparently I hadn't adjusted the minimum dim on the recessed lights despite the fact that I could have passed a lie detector that I had. One of my three problems solved. These Nora lights actually get fairly dim.

This switch will at least help with the hanging fixture. The standard caseta dimmers bleed a bit of power through the load since they don't have a neutral to pull power from. The ELV dimmers (and the on/off switches using a neutral) can power themselves without pulling any power through the load.

The ELV switch might help with the buzzing of the recessed lights and should let you go dimmer. The ELV dimmer can be run in either forward or reverse phase dimming. Reverse phase dimming allows for deeper dimming and can sometimes help with the buzzing.

The ELV dimmer is a reverse phase dimmer. Reverse dimming lets you dim a bit more than standard dimmers which are forward phase only. The reverse dimming can sometimes help with the buzzing noise but its not a guarantee (and it might be cheaper just to replace the recessed bulbs). The ELV dimmer will also allow the lights to fully turn off - the standard caseta dimmers don't have a neutral so they draw a tiny bit of power through the lights to power themselves. The ELV dimmer (and the caseta on/off switches with a neutral) don't need to draw that power through the lights so the lights will fully turn off. For fully turning off lights with standard caesta dimmers, I had better luck with the Aeotec Bypass Load Resistor than the Lutron MLC capacitor.
