what a crap deal! .. Heck I can get it for $599 ( after trade in ) and it's still a trash deal.. Samsung can't sell the Fold 5 because it's way over priced. Great device, but their greed with this will be it's undoing.

He/she was talking about when Samsung was offering $1200 credit for trade-in of an iPhone 13 or 14 Pro Max for a short time. You can also get additional discounts for military, etc.
As mentioned, not everyone wants to deal with trade-ins and/or qualify for one of their discounts. This deal is a direct discount from the MSRP of the phone, and what people think of the MSRP is irrelevant. Some people seem incapable of separating that. It's like complaining about the price of an expensive luxury watch.
Lastly, I just looked at the deal and it's $100 cheaper at $1399 if you're a Prime member, as of this posting.

As mentioned, not everyone wants to deal with trade-ins and/or qualify for one of their discounts. This deal is a direct discount from the MSRP of the phone, and what people think of the MSRP is irrelevant. Some people seem incapable of separating that.
