This is a great deal and excellent guitar for beginners. It's easier to change tunings or set up new strings with a hardtail bridge. The neck is great and the pickups sound really good for a basic model guitar. I bought the Jackson Randy Rhodes version JS32t for $150 used and am impressed by how it plays.

Good deal but who's buying a Jackson without a tremolo?

It's not easier for me. My floating tremolo works just fine with new stretched-in strings. And including excellent tuning stability. Including turning to drop D. I'm using 9's. Ernie Ball.

I came here to say that's not too bad for metal looks. But no Trem?

The only people having trouble with the Trem; just don't know how to set them up(semi-firm). Like once. And with no locking nothing, anywhere. You may find the issue is with the nut. Try a TUSQ.

And that's on the lowest $56 e-Strat-Bay beauty. Who's parts are just fine! You can find $60 metal electric and with a Trem too.

About $70 today; but wait them out. They are usually under $60. Even today if you search. Try Temu(app), Wish, Aliexpress(difficult), Bangoods, and many others. But you have to research their terms (returns) and add up your total price with some. And no, it will not have $1000 fret job; but that can be done with a makeup block sander(fine grain). And well worth it. Many users report needing almost no setup at all. Near perfect. Watch a video howto. It's easy. Else; go to a music store.

And if you want fancy, heavy parts and fancy setup that's decent for sure then look to $119 sales on DLX models from Monoprice, with easy returns; if you don't like it for any reason. And no I do not work for them; it's just the way it is. It's $50 more for modern parts (Ash 2-point etc) and a guy to check the setup and tweak it more. If that's what's holding you back then a DLX is your guitar.

And their Cali's when they are under $70, or even $60 might be the best deal as they are fine, the parts are great and classic like the originals(Strat or Tele 50's, 60's), and come with more padded covers and a no risk return policy(Especially with FedEx shipping and, plus many improvements, 9.5 fret board radius etc...The Ebay ones even have 12" and all still 25.5 scale length); but I would sand off that darn beak point on theCali head stock though (legality). Just saying.

Honestly any guitar is good enough for rocksmith. Go straight to rocksmith 2, it's way better as far as latency and note detection goes.

If by "Rocksmith 2" you mean "Rocksmith+" you're comparing a complete package to a subscription service.

Pick up Rocksmith 2014/Remastered while you still can, because they're pulling it on Oct 23rd. Steam key is $30, cable is $25 on Amazon - $55 is less than the price of 2 guitar lessons, plus no subscription BS as well as the option for custom (fan-made) DLC.

Where do these guitars come from that are so cheap? Gretsch looks great, but I've never held one. Does the fit and finish just seem poor?

A lot of them come from Indonesia. The Gretsch Streamliner series is excellent for the price. I have no real complaints with mine, fit and finish look good.
