Best Buy's page if you want to activate an unlocked device as part of the order says "We're currently only able to activate service on this unlocked device with Verizon, Google Fi Wireless and AT&T."

But that doesn't mean the phone isn't compatible with T-Mobile, it probably means they don't stock T-Mobile SIMs and service. Do you have a source that says this unlocked phone from Best Buy will not take a T-Mobile SIM?

Also, trade-in note at checkout if you're selecting store pickup is "Bring your trade-in device to the store when you pick up your new item."

Just wanted to share my story here. After seeing this post I went to Walmart purchased the Straight Talk Apple iPhone SE (2022-3rd Gen) 5G, 64GB, Midnight- Prepaid Smartphone. The phone is locked. I picked up the phone from Walmart ($166 after tax) after verifying that Walmart does indeed take the phone back after its opened as long as its within 14 days. I drove directly to best buy. In the BB parking lot I cut open the iPhone box. Put some finger prints all over the screen and turned it on. That is all I did left it on the language select screen. I then walked right through the door of Best Buy and asked to do a trade in for the Pixel 8 pro. The process was pretty seamless. They asked what service provider the phone was on and I told them it was a friends and he told me Verizon. After he did a quick visual inspection to make sure it was in good shape that was it guys. He provided the 160 plus the coupon for the 300 extra on the spot. I went ahead and purchased the Pixel 8 pro on the spot and did indeed also get the free smart watch. The values of 460 were directly deducted from the full price of the phone right then and there. The watch shows as 0 dollars on the receipt as well for those who are curious. I just have to go pick it up on the 12th its a done deal. Hope that helps some people that are confused.

Went in this morning and it went relatively smoothly overall.
A few key points (YMMV):
-Received the se3 from walmart in the morning, took the phone out, switched it on, and didn't enter all the unnecessary information until I saw the desktop of the phone.
-Go to "about" in the menu, display the imei number, hold it in your hand, save some time, you can keep other things in the box, BB just needs the machine itself. Of course you can leave the box in the car in case of problems.
-There aren't many shop assistants at BB who can operate trade-in, I'm afraid, you may have to queue.
-Just tell them the se3 belongs to verizon.
-$160 and $300 no problem, but the clerk who processed my trade-in took out a $160 BB GC, deducted $300 when paying, then paid $160 with that GC, I paid the rest $240. the result of this is that the tax is calculated from $400, not $240.
-The included earbuds are only available in black.
This was my experience as well. Bought at walmart today, opened it, smudged it up a bit and took to best buy.

I tried the same just now. Three people including the manager couldn't get the $460. There was a screen on the trade in to add promotion with a space for a code. They didn't know what it was but tried the word "Google". It looked like it went in but the gift card still showed $160. They didn't want to go any farther in the process because the extra $300 wasn't showing up. They basically told me to do it online for in store pickup and give the phone then. Kinda bummed but hoping this forum can give some additional steps and I can try another store. The other reason I wanted to do it in store was because the manager told me that if you buy their $50 membership, I get an extra gift card at the end of November for $50. That would mean if the price went down in 60 days I would get the difference back. So I have the phone but hoping to go to another store to try again.

Don't rely on ashby37 he is in some BB where everything works...he says u can change watch, bud colors, get promotion on multiple devices....but he neither shows his receipt nor says which bb he got deal...just confusing ppls and there is also some friend of his who justifies him "keung"....there are no bases on his claims...dont waste ur time...friend
Yeah that guy's just a troll. Best buys system will not allow a second promo. You're getting 300 bucks off the phone and getting a watch. It's a good deal. I'll just sell my Pixel 7 separately. SE is the best trade. As for the watch it's weird you can't change the color but whatever. To be honest, i would prefer to just have a $350 Best buy gift card haha. I wonder after I get to watch if I could do a no receipt return to a Best buy and see if they would give me 350 bucks on a gift card. I really don't want the watch. Nothing against pixel watch but I just don't care about watches at all.

Same....they spent alot of time trying to figure it out, then one said, "Oh look the code is GOOGLE" and then they were able to process everything

Did the associate have to type a word or code in when they clicked the "Save up to" promotion? They did that for me (the word Google) and then went to screen of license info, etc. But wouldn't finalize because the amount still showed $160. I was wondering if at the final screen it would show $300 off the price, but they were nice and didn't want it to go to pay and I didn't get the extra $300 off.

Sounds like I was on the right track. Do you remember or know by chance when the extra $300 shows up? They didn't complete the trade, so I'm wondering if they just didn't go far enough and the next step would have showed it.

I would like to use Chase Freedom/Paypal for 5% cashback. That means I must order online, select in-store pickup, and turn in the Walmart iPhone SE on the day of the pickup, right? Anything that can go wrong with this versus doing everything in the store foregoing the 5% CB?

Ordering online means getting taxed on the full price of the phone. In store the bonus coupon amount is not taxed.

Hmm, this seems inconsistent with what it says when you vire the cart online"

"When we receive your trade-in item, we'll confirm that it matches the information you provided in the estimate, then we'll refund your payment method the final trade-in value within 7-10 days, including any associated tax"
