I use a normal home with bass turned up and treb turned down paired with a normal stereo pair. Max is discontinued but had a built in sub.

Price is coming down more and more we're at ATL, hoping this means that they're going to make a new model soon. Something surprising but google did a really good job developing the audio & sound quality elements for their speakers but they're not doing enough for the system itself. In frequency response it measures like a $2000+ speaker, granted it has nowhere near as much output, and still limited by physics ofc w/ limited versatility its an incredible piece of technology but they really do need a new model that fixes all the limitations and integration issues w/ the current model.

I follow the search on eBay for Google Home Max speakers and it blows my mind how expensive those things go for. Like $175 each. Gotta be some good sound or what??

Yeah I pretty much agree, the speakers sound fine but it's complicated setting up multiple pairs, it doesn't play well with 5 GHz internet. And the voice control is more complicated because Google won't pay sonos. Someone said they're $30 at Target, at that point it might be worth these headaches.

But at 50? You could actually get them $60 brand new a couple Black Fridays ago when they were still a relatively new item.

I would steer clear or try to find them at Target for 30 bucks if that rumor is true. It's a shame too bc I like the way they look and the sound is fine.

But voice controls on Google Assistant have been marky in recent years even before the Sonos lawsuit.

They are quite good indeed, at least for a powered smart speaker. I'm using one as a subwoofer in my theater system and it doesn't disappoint. (Talking about the Max, not the speaker in this deal which is a smaller version)
