No coincidence they lowered it by 2k, the California CVRP rebate is out of money so no more $2k for residents. Got the model 3 rwd during the last major price drop, great commuter car.

The AWD and range increase makes this a decently easy choice now, frankly these cars last forever, teslas ability to make the car an appliance means youll likely keep it in your family for years upon years, youll either give it to your parents, sister, kid, etc after 8 years. $4500 over 8 years is only extra $562. Its almost "regret insurance" at that point, if every year you get into a situation where you wish you had awd and slightly more range than youll kick yourself for not having gotten this. (I also think the LR has subwoofers and rwd doesnt... but someone would have to confirm that for me)
No subwoofers but the stereo is impressive

they been dropping prices so much that if you wait another year, you'd probably save yourself 5k+. They're releasing a refresh in 2024 (Juniper) so I'm sure they'll be clearing up all their inventories before then.

Sounds like a car that makes it to 1 million miles would cost more in maintenance than just a new car at that point. Plus the extra gas costs on 1 million miles of electric vs a million miles on gas.

I think 1 million may be a stretch, I wouldnt want to drive the car in that video, and I wouldnt want to do maintenance on that car either.

We do have estimates around the 300,000 mile mark though, and based on that, I'd say its a fair assessment to say it would cost a lot less to drive the EV than the gas vehicle. I anticipate 500,000 or 1,000,000 would be no different:

Oh ok, you win.

There was a Tesla in front of me at Taco Bell tonight. I was surprised at how high it was off the ground compared to my Lexus. It was the Model Y. I cannot get over how ugly Tesla car interiors are.

I wouldn't. EVs are more beneficial and cost effective the more you drive them. Switching to an EV when you enjoy your Lexus... I'd say wait until it's time to replace your car and then look around. I drive 200 to 300 miles a month in our gas car and about 1500 miles in our EV. Costs about the same in "fuel", but one can go drastictically further than the other on the same dollar amount. I'd like to switch our gas car for another EV but when you're filling up 8 gallons every 2 weeks or longer... gas prices aren't a big deal. Whether it's $3 a gal or $6 a gal. But that's just me I don't worry about gas prices because I rarely drive gas. With all the price fluctuations it all averages out anyways over time.

Enjoy your ride because based on other people's comments on here you won't like a Tesla. Their comments have me rethinking about getting a Tesla.

Are Teslas built that bad? I'm considering an electric car.
They're not as bad as folks make it out to be. Also being an EV, noise issues are amplified
Just do a through walk through of the vehicle once delivered. Apparently once you go tesla, you stay with teslas. I'm tempted to get into one as well with all the glowing praises from numerous friends and family

Couple things need to be added, EV credit is not refundable so you don't get money back unless you owe tax money. Other thing is that insurance is about the double for any tesla.

Not double. A little more. Unless you're the kind that usually goes for whatever comes your way without shopping for a good deal

my wife loves Lexus (friend has RX350) way more than she loves me. After I got my model Y, she went for a model 3 and fell in love with it. no more Lexus for her. Keep your Lexus if soft/cushion drive is your top priority as Tesla Y/3 rides is more rough. Otherwise, Model Y all the way! Too many good things to list, and too much misinformation, but here are some positive things, in order of my own ranking:

#1 Safety is off the hook (frontal crash with Van, van driver died, model 3 driver walked out since no front engine. search you tube. or that depressed doctor who drove his family flying then rolling down a cliff in the model Y smashed to oblivion but everyone's got minor injury)
#2 Sporty drive and so fast. changing lane, merging into freeway, or just speed up at yellow light, makes it a lot safer and faster to get around in general. you have to own it to really know what I mean.
#3 save on gas and no hassle going to the pump, plug in at home like your phone
#4 Autopilot! relaxed driving on freeway. priceless for commuting.
#5 1 pedal driving! no need to brake at red light. also huge screen for backup/left/right camera. see everything!
#6 low maintenance, just the tires. oh, and no more keys or having to lock doors! or remotely venting/heating/cooling/defrost.

the cons are: rough ride, noisy, tire wear, and low battery if you go longer distance than 3 hours. all I can think of.

Had to drive a gas car in Hawaii on our vacation and I hated it so much. no more gas car for us. at these prices, Y/3 is a no brainer to me if you need a new car.

How can you say a car that's only been available for four years last forever? Have you heard of battery degradation. In 10 years from now your batter range will be closer 200 miles if it still works. On top of this you aren't exempt from bearing replacement, tie rods, control arms and bushings. We have no idea how long these will cars will last.
My brother and his wife both own OG model S's. Both original owners. They haven't had major issues and they drive them about 400 miles from them to me a couple times a year. Suspension, Brakes and tires are a given, but no battery swap or dash issues. One charge halfway still gets them all the way here.
