You said you'd need to recharge to get across town. At 300 miles... thats a 3 hour drive. So when I wake up in the morning I'm good for 300 miles. I can't see a scenario day to day, where you would need more than that to "go across town" like you said. So I guess your town is more than 300 miles?
Do you even own an EV? If you do, you should know you shouldn't charge the car to 100% and drain it to 0% for that ideal 300 mile range, which you can't get anyways. Especially not for daily driving. Adjusting for maintaining a 20%-80% SoC and accounting for the real world attainable MPGe, you're looking at ~150 milea of real world usable range.

we may not even need to file for the credit at the end of the year any more, but actually get the 7.5k upfront - https://home.treasury.gov/news/pr...JCcuMjAKyQ

The AWD and range increase makes this a decently easy choice now, frankly these cars last forever, teslas ability to make the car an appliance means youll likely keep it in your family for years upon years, youll either give it to your parents, sister, kid, etc after 8 years. $4500 over 8 years is only extra $562. Its almost "regret insurance" at that point, if every year you get into a situation where you wish you had awd and slightly more range than youll kick yourself for not having gotten this. (I also think the LR has subwoofers and rwd doesnt... but someone would have to confirm that for me)

Trade it in for something better quality. Toyota lexus
They might have better quality but they're so woefully outdated. Rather deal with obnoxious build issues with Tesla and Rivian than drive a Lexus.

Was about to say this.
I think starting next January the $7500 is like a instant discount coupon taken right at the dealer...no need to wait until tax filing time.

Yes, and it has nothing to do with how much you withhold. You can be owed a refund for overpayment and still qualify. Many people misinterpret thinking they have to under withhold, which you may end up paying a penalty for.

Starting Jan 2024 the 7,500 rebate can be applied directly to the purchase of the vehicle like a down payment instead of the tax rebate.

You will hear a lot from folks that have never owned a Tesla, or even driven one.

I will give you my ownership experience as a current owner of 2 Teslas and a 3rd one on the way. Before Teslas I was and come from a family of mostly Toyotas/Lexus.

Pros of Tesla:
  1. Very useful and one of the best infotainment system in terms of contents and responsiveness. Large and very responsive google map.
  2. Performance. Once you have driven a Tesla and experienced its acceleration and instant torque, it becomes very difficult to drive non EV cars. Besides the fun, the on demand torque can be vbery useful for safety reaosns.
  3. Probably the safest cars you can drive structurally and safety score wise
  4. Zero manintence. I have yet to perform any manintence on my two Teslas
  5. Never having to visit gas stations. I have a level 2 charger at home and am all charged up and rdy to go whenever I leave home
  6. On the rare occasion or on long distance trips that I need to charge up outside, Tesla Supercharger networks are everywhere
  7. If you buy the long range versions, unless you drive really long distancers every day, range will hardly be aby issue. Most people dont drive more than 50-60 miles per day.
  8. Music system/spears are surprisingly good. Watching Netflix with the sound system is a good experience.
  9. Car receives updates and upgrades regularly via on air update
  10. Security system and camera system are really nice. I can watch activity around the car from my phone
  11. Car can be tracked and a number of features operated from phone. Helpful if you have a kid driving your car. Also pretty much makes it theft proof.
  12. If you have more than one Teslas, they sync up nicely, both driving wise and management wise from your phone
  13. Battery degradation is a non issue. Most of the degradation happens in first 2 years and is a very low percentage. You might want to check a recent research study done on battery degradation. Not something people should be really concerned about.
  14. Also ignore people that try to scare you with battery replacement cost. its fully warrantied for 120,000 miles. You will most likely move on to a different car long before then and even then it doesn't mean your battery will fail at 120k miles. No different than cars with engine warranties and engine failures.
  15. Spacious cargo spaces
  16. Surprisingly low insurance. Shop around. My insurance for two Tealas were lower than any cars I have owned and by a large margin!
  17. Super smooth, reliable, and easy super charging experience. I just pull in, and plug in. No need to fumble with payment system. its all setup on phone and car.
  18. Passenger side windows come tinted! Great for my kids.
BTW, If you want to make your Teslas really OP, get Solar. With all my cars Teslas and Solar powering them, it is an absolute joy.

Cons of Tesla:
  1. Mediocre interior and depending on what brand you come from would even find it low quality. However, front bucket seats are very good and comfrotable.
  2. Absolutely atrocious auto wipers. I have to constantly manually manage the wipers because of bad they are on auto.
  3. Panel gaps. They are improving and you can get them fixed but you will most likely get your car with panel gaps somewhere. It doesn't really bug me that much because structurally it doesn't change anything other than aesthetics. If you are OCD kind of person this will bug you.
  4. Interior noise especially when driving on interstate highway can get loud. Model 3 and Y are not going to offer you luxury level interior comfort or noise level.
  5. Depending on your driving style, tire change every 20-30k miles. If you are an aggressive driver expect this.
  6. HVAC filters start stinking after a while and you will need to shell out $30 buck to buy one and replace it yourself. This should be a recall.

You can say blabber about whatever you want, I've backed up what I stated with information from reputable sources, i.e. the government that gave you a refund for buying your car. Not my fault you can't read. Goodbye.

Last forever? LMAO Found the Tesla fan boi.
These things come new with steering wheels that fall off, brake pads not installed, etc.
Let me guess, you watched some viral videos and now believe that happens to every Tesla?

> obnoxious build issues

What percentage of Teslas have build issues? From the comments in this thread, it sounds like 100%?
