They might have better quality but they're so woefully outdated. Rather deal with obnoxious build issues with Tesla and Rivian than drive a Lexus.
The Rivian RS1 is actually pretty nice looking, but the front end sucks. Those oval headlights are hideous and need to go.

Buy it, you will not regret it.
Tesla isn't luxury. Lexus is. You will notice the difference. Tech on the other hand is great in Tesla. Now if only they add Android auto and car play I will consider it. Else that massive screen is useless for me

What percentage of Teslas have build issues? From the comments in this thread, it sounds like 100%?
I had a 2016 Model S 90D after the refresh and had a issue every few months:
- Door handles stuck
- The axle literally snapped in the parking lot of the service center (no accident, didn't hit anything)
- strange whining sounds
- one time the screen behind the steering wheel just refused to work

Shit is built with bubble gum and duct tape, terrible road noise and cheap interior for the price. The acceleration, car software and free, unlimited Supercharging on that VIN were the only positives. Only purchased it because I was driving a ton for work and the supercharger was 2 minutes from my house.

After that poor experience and Musk's crazy antics, I think I'll go with Rivian, Ford, Fisker or GM for my next EV.

Excellent EV for the price. But not as good as Audi, GM, or Ford EVs. But you cannot beat the price. I would take this over a gas or diesel anything.

GTFO, I drive a Prius that has no major problems and I still spend more in fuel & maintenance costs (I do my own oil changes, filter changes, repairs) than my buddy that owns a Model 3.
are you seriously that incapable of basic reading comprehension? I never said anything about maintenance or fuel. typical prius owner lmao

Starting Jan 2024 the 7,500 rebate can be applied directly to the purchase of the vehicle like a down payment instead of the tax rebate.
Tesla website says reductions likely after Dec 31, what if tesla would not apply the full $7500 credit to the purchase but apply partially. do you think that's possible?

The AWD and range increase makes this a decently easy choice now, frankly these cars last forever, teslas ability to make the car an appliance means youll likely keep it in your family for years upon years, youll either give it to your parents, sister, kid, etc after 8 years. $4500 over 8 years is only extra $562. It's almost "regret insurance" at that point, if every year you get into a situation where you wish you had awd and slightly more range than youll kick yourself for not having gotten this. (I also think the LR has subwoofers and rwd doesnt... but someone would have to confirm that for me)
They can't make them out of the factory without simple fit issues, much less QC. If you plan to keep it 8 years, keep the miles low. The battery will cost as much as a new one.

Newer ones are built a lot better than 2016. Have myself a similar year X and a new X. Very different in almost every way. Still keeping the old X, though, because of the free supercharging.

I rented a model y for 10 days and 1200 miles. I drive a 2011 sonta limited turbo for reference... though road noise was not too bad and suspension was ok. Very fast... one of the rear windows would not roll back up without many tries but it eventually did, other than that I didn't have problems. I wouldn't be disappointed owning one but I'm waiting for the refreshed model 3 amd some others first. Have a coworker who said his model 3 insurance wasn't any more than his ICE, in wa state

It is very common for Tesla to adjust prices just before quarterly results. After results they will start increasing price. Last two months after inventory discount, prices were lower than current MSRP. I would rather wait for quarter to end and then buy with inventory discount.

Added to master warranty thread.
https://slickdeals.net/e/8771643-auto-truck-suv-extended-warranty-master-thread-all-vehicles-oct-2023?v=1

So, I have been reading these very informative threads and have a question!

Who makes a higher quality all electric car/SUV/midsize than Tesla that qualifies for federal incentives? Did see some KIA stuff ( and Hyundai Ioniq 6) online but those may not qualify for the Federal incentives.

I read that too, they're making it easier so that tax liability won't be an issue. With all the new electric vehicles coming down the pike for 2024, it'll definitely make things easier on everyone.

Right now Toyota is given instant $7500 rebate for the bz and lexus is given $10,000 rebate for the rz. Why are such deals not been posted here. Why Tesla always been here.
