Exactly this. I came from a 15yo Acura MDX and riding the Y felt like a significant downgrade. Awesome for the driver but not so much for passengers, especially in the rear. This is on a '23 LR with supposedly upgraded comfort suspension. Cabin noise was passable but the ride was harsh (on 19" wheels). The mach e, polestar, q4 etron, id 4 all rode better. However they all have their own faults.

You still can get a Bolt EV for under $30K (Full Fed tax credit) with equal range to a RWD Y. It's worth a test drive if what you want is primarily a commuter car and can live with its charging limitations.

I've seen a lot of ID.4s (also US made) sitting on lots...

For 2023, Lexus now has an all-electric RZ which is a similar size to the RX.

I wonder if I should trade in my model 3 for model y. I hate all the interior noise from model 3.
That may or may not stay in Model Y, not guaranteed you won't get anything rattling in there. I have model 3, love the car how it drives, super efficient and nimble. But But I get that vibrating sound here and there, kinda of annoying because the car is so quiet any little sound just become more noticeable!

Try not to park in garage. Especially if your garage is attached to your house or your house on top of garage. But hot summer or very cold weather may cause battery damage..

Also if you worry about that, LFP battery is safer choice at this moment. But only RWD Tesla has it. I am not sure about Ford, they may have some EV also use LFP battery.
I agree that LFP batteries, if available, is the way to go.

Tesla is constantly changing their pricing and options.

Unfortunately, Tesla dropped the standard range LFP battery from the Model Y a few weeks ago...allegedly to allocate batteries for the Cybertruck.

For now, the only Tesla available with the LFP battery is the Cybertruck.

Depending on which state you live in, there are additional incentives for EVs that meet special requirements.

Model Y RWD: $44k - $7.5k federal - $6k Colorado - $6k Colorado VXC (ICE trade in) = $24.5k

____

"Colorado taxpayers are eligible for a state tax credit of $5,000 for the purchase or lease of a new EV on or after July 1, 2023 with a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) up to $80,000. Lease agreements must have an initial term of at least two years. Beginning January 1, 2024, Coloradans purchasing an EV with an MSRP up to $35,000 will be eligible for an additional $2,500 tax credit."

"Eligible Colorado residents can receive the following rebate amounts for a qualified electric vehicle purchase or lease (note: a lease term must be a minimum of two years).
New electric vehicle (BEV or PHEV): $6,000
Used electric vehicle (BEV or PHEV): $4,000
The State allows VXC participants to combine the VXC program rebate with state and federal tax credits and other EV rebates. "

I saw the price cut on Twitter (X).
Makes me wonder why Tesla doesn't just advertise more if they want to sell more. Cutting price will only anger the current owners who paid $20k higher about 1 year ago. Offering a lower interest rate would be better than slashing price by 2 to 4%.
Omg... are you new to slickdeals? How many people are coming here to post about how much more they overpaid last week?

I test drove Y and did not like it's poor visibility and lack of blind spot monitor on the mirrors which I am so used to now. Looking at the center screen for blind spot information was very difficult during the test drive.

I test drove a model y. It was as close to silence as it was. I was driving a gas car, which has a nice and silent engine (toyota camry). Maybe after driving the y for a while, it might increase my sensitivity to sound like you did.

It never ceases to amaze me that many think spending +$40,000 for a car is cheap nowadays. No wonder the average monthly payment is over $700 and you'll be paying this over 6-8 years instead of the typical 3-4 years. I for one, own a 2012 fully loaded V6 Camry with leather, advance navigation and leather. It's a no brainer for me upgrading from a 16 y/o barebone Accord. Either pay 3% for a 2 y/o used or financed 0% for a current generation brand new for 3 years. I still own the Camry. Very pleased with its reliability and performance. Spent $500 on way overdue 10 year maintenance last month and i will keep this at least another 6 years. I am not apposed to splurging on cars as long as you know you can afford it but I gotta tell ya, $700 is a lot of $$ and it's great to not have any car note. Cars are liabilities unless its a classic collectors vehicle. Just my 2 cents.

Serious question. I live in the country without fire stations close by. I've seen where batteries burn up. What causes that. My fear of electric cars are for the car batter to catch on fire and then burn my house down.

I drive 150 miles a day…. So I want a battery car. Just worry about above. Also ready where Toyota is developing different battery tech. How would those compare?
Gas car has more percentage to catch fire vs. electric car in the US according to census data. Tesla happens less often. I think gas cars caught on fire about more than 100 000 times last year.

The battery in your pocket is lithium. You have been putting them next to your crotch for at least 10 years.

Yep, I'm looking for long term reliability like our 2003 Chevy truck. We have 319k miles now, got the oil analysis and the results were very good. The comments coming back from the oil analysis; "We've got no concerns when it comes to this Chevy and the way you're taking care of it! This thing may just outlast us all." Does it burn some oil between oil changes, yes. Does it require bearing, belt, pump, thermostat, filter, suspension joint replacements? Yes. But these parts are all relatively inexpensive, easy for me to replace and even available for purchase on Amazon. Insurance is less than an EV. And I don't worry about subscriptions or technology obsolescence. Maybe someday I'll find an EV with all these characteristics.
Try looking for model s. One guy drove it for over 1 million miles. I love my Toyota.

Has anyone experienced this kind of unsuccessful purchasing experience on Tesla.com?
Here is my recent experience. Not sure if this is unethical customer service practice.
We want to buy basic Model 3 Rear Wheel Drive vehicle and on Tesla.com and in new vehicle inventory page, for my zip code I found one available for faster pickup and is listed for $37,120 (New Model 3 Blue 18" wheel). I added charging accessories and submitted the order with $955 including $250 fee. Received text message to signup for the account and next steps. Also received email with invoice showing price adjustment of $4100.
We are excited to complete the next steps. We signed for Tesla account as instructed.
Then when login to account we see "Accept the updated terms and proceed to delivery" message. On this page we see a new price of $41,240 in very small font and grey color. Below that long message that a technology change that now cameras will be used for sensing and decision. Without realizing that this is changing the price, we accepted by click OK and continued to the next step where now we received new updated invoice of $41,240. We did not see any option when accepting this change. After we accepted and getting new invoice, then only we see Cancel option. We cancelled the order as the final price is $4100 more than listed price.
Then we contacted Tesla support on chat and first the agent acted like we are made mistake by changing the vehicle in the process but when we repeated the whole detail agent said I understood but I do not have detail on your order so I cannot say anything. We provided reservation number and vehicle configuration details. In few seconds the agent simply agent simply ended the chat. Then we submitted request in contact support page. Received a text message and an email. Responded to both and no response even after few days now. We lost the order fee $250 also in this process.
We see multiple problems here with Tesla advertising/listing/customer support etc.
Why would tesla list one price but then change it on the fly without properly displaying and explaining the price change. Why would support act like nothing happened and they do not care about customers.
Any similar experiences or we totally missed on how Tesla work?
