Yes, because the main issue with German vehicles is complicated engines (see your starter). Besides that is leasing is probably best for most EVs because of how much technology is changing and how quickly.

The AWD and range increase makes this a decently easy choice now, frankly these cars last forever, teslas ability to make the car an appliance means youll likely keep it in your family for years upon years, youll either give it to your parents, sister, kid, etc after 8 years. $4500 over 8 years is only extra $562. Its almost "regret insurance" at that point, if every year you get into a situation where you wish you had awd and slightly more range than youll kick yourself for not having gotten this. (I also think the LR has subwoofers and rwd doesnt... but someone would have to confirm that for me)
Yes model Y long range is best package in Tesla lineup with subwoofer and immersive sound
It's infotainment is great

Sounds like CVRP is being replaced with a different program that'll include up to 12k for trashing an old clunker in favor of an EV?

Some more context here but essentially it's moving to focus on lower-income residents so the max income cap is lower and the incentives are structured a bit differently-

I bought a 2019 VW e-golf, a slick deal from a few years ago. It's been problem free and is fun to drive. My range hasn't diminished from day one.

The one reliable electric, get a Prius. If you want luxury electric, Tesla isn't it. There's just no comparison.

For example:

A friend of mine, who has both, vastly prefers the 3 from a drivers POV. However, the Y has a much better back seat and trunk.

The sound system is better on the Long Range/Performance, but unless you're into music and play it loud, most people won't notice...like my wife!

I'd buy the 3 base and save the 10K, but I'm driving solo or just a single passenger the vast majority of the time.

Interest rate went up, so unless you are paying cash, your monthly payment could be even higher

I would love an EV but they are just not there yet for me. I drive 3x a month STL Chicago. 280 miles one way. It takes me about 4 hours in my gas's car with no fuel stop. The Tesla app on the web page says the drive will now take me 5 hours with a charge stop. People say I can make it on one charge but that is optimal conditions. What about cold, rain or snow. I am just not ready to have an additional hour added to my drive. I have been doing a lot of EV research lately and am interested in the changes coming on the model 3. The Ionic 6 also looks promising. Need a 400 mile range before EV is really doable for me.

Also insurance will go up almost $80 a month for the Tesla.

Not sure why, an LR Model Y can do that without needing to stop at all.

A 5-10 minute stop would get you well past 400 miles one way.

Rain isn't going to matter much--- below freezing will though.

Real world data says in freezing conditions (20-30 degrees out) you're down to about 200 miles of range on a single charge.

So one 10 minute supercharger stop, not an hour long one, still gets you to your destination without issue. And again this is only that bad below freezing.

Consider that you'll probably save that much or more time throughout the year NOT stopping at gas stations for regular fueling if you instead just charge at home- and you're still ahead of owning a gas car in terms of time wasted fueling.

Now if at-home charging isn't possible for you that's a different story.

My apologies if this has been asked. From what I gather, you get the $7,500 credit up front, assuming you qualify. This year I've paid $25,000 in taxes. I may or may not owe anything to the IRS at the end of the year. Does this mean I've qualified and I should not have to pay back the tax credit?

40 K plus for a model Y. Nope I can get a way better SUV at 40K. Gas Stations are literally everywhere.

30k for a model Y ...now we are talking and it makes total sense. in 5 to 10 years, GAS-powered cars will have the same Autopilot and all the software the EVs have minus the electric battery, etc. Very limited charging station is a big No.
