Got mine from the lightinabox deal. They offered me another $20 off to wait for the same "lets take orders for a week and then start making them" arrangement.

I had an order in with geekbuying, but they just kept slipping the date out and didn't offer me anything.

$34 is a really good deal.

I was unimpressed with Garlic OS and I see that they haven't updated it since April.

Went with Koriki and tiny best set. Koriki was no harder to burn to an sd card and install. Just takes a few minutes on the first boot to scan for roms.

Koriki actually uses the low end gpu in the RG35xx. The Miyoos don't have a gpu, and only two cores vs the quad core in the RG35xx. That's probably why garlic doesn't support the gpu. Garlic is a re-use of onion OS for the Miyoos, and those as mentioned don't have it.

That opens up the entire PS1 catalog, and even some dreamcast and n64 games with a tweak or two.

See Russ from Retro Gamer Corps video on RG35xx firmware options.

It's hard to believe that a $50 device can play higher end systems, but it does.

Koriki is a port of Batocera and is still in active development. The official version 1.0 is almost ready. I'm running version 0.9.1

I find the console/rom listings to be more readable and better looking on koriki vs garlic. Recommended.

You may have accidently underclocked the device. At the main menu screen, press select and you will see little minus and plus icons in the corner. You want to clock it up, I run mine at ++ for best performance.

After months of watching hundreds of YouTube videos of various handhelds, I finally got one (R35S) but realized I forgot to look for one thing I didn't know I needed to look for: USB-C PD charging.
MANY of these handhelds do not support USB-C PD charging, which generally means you cannot charge using a USB-C to USB-C cable. They provide a USB-A to USB-C cable, and you have to use this type of cable to charge the device.
I wish more reviewers focused on this. Something about the circuitry required to support PD to negotiate the power but devices cut this out to save on costs so you can only charge from a USB-A port on the brick.

When I travel, I don't want to be bringing a special charging brick just to charge this device. I don't know if this device does PD charging, but something to look for before buying the device.

Are you using stock os with the same card that shipped with the unit?

Love mine, this price seems pretty good, might not be lowest ever, but if you've been thinking about this, get it. Sorry about the loss of your future free time Smilie

I've got this and the miyoo mini +, this has a better screen, hdmi out, dual micro sd slots. Mine came with their os and garlic os installed.

Miyoo has Wi-Fi, can add onion os,.

Recommend them both, Wi-Fi/hdmi the biggest differences in these $50ish units…. Get your own sd cards, and tiny best set roms for best experience…

It really is the best price I've seen on this model. But what I don't like is what they've done in the past with "pre-order" deals (for the same of very similar price) where you order the item and then you have to wait X number of days until they've accumulated all these orders and THEN it ships and THEN their shipping times are literally "15-45 Business Days". That means 3-12 WEEKS. Shipping from China isn't fast, but that's nuts.

At least with this particular "deal", it's only 1 more day as part of their "flash sale" before the order goes out. But you're still waiting that 3-12 weeks for delivery.

That said, if you're patient, you'll save the money.

Bought mine on Amazon from California and it's due to arrive on Tuesday and even that one took longer than I expected. But I guess I'm just impatient.

Even though you are using a good microSD, did you try to a new one to see if it corrects the issue? It is not uncommon for microSDs to crap out.

I love how they use the Red Dead Redemption 2 photo, as if this thing can even play that.

So mine had some weird issues as well. I think the stock os these ship with might have corruption or something. I went and grabbed the latest firmware for it online and installed it. Was a big improvement.

This is probably the 3rd time I've seen this deal on SD since May. It appears to be the normal price since they delay all orders. Everything you said about the shipping is accurate. Pre-order took over a month to get mine, you would get it earlier if you live in LA which is the main distribution center.
