Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
This isn't necessarily a bad thing at all. New models is how they're able to sell the older ones at these prices. I have the RP-280FAs which are "older" models and they're farkin' amazing.

That's what I have and they sound BETTER than new RP-8060FA, AND better than 8000F II, for sure!
i'll be honest, with the headache i had with past onkyo amps
ill pass..... so far denon, sony, yamaha have all worked well
I agree .. I bought RZ50 at sticker price when it came out. And within a year the thing stopped working in my home theater. Sent it to Onkyo service center at shipping cost out of my pocket and it's still at the service center waiting for parts to arrive from Japan. It's been weeks !!! At the same time I bought a cheaper Denon from Costco and that thing has been used more in our family room and still going strong. If it was not for Dirac I wouldn't have bought Onkyo and now I am regretting with Onkyo.
Awful customer service !!
I've had the RP-8000F, and matching speakers all around, for a few years now. I think they are pretty damn good. They are a good size, so know that. The great thing about these speakers is they don't take a lot of power to push hard, so no need to buy some crazy powerful receiver.
If you go to the amazon listing, and spin the 360 degree view around, the top firing atmos needs its own connections.
They also are not standard L/R inputs, you have to have an atmos ready receiver.
The top firing in 8060fa are built in
So do you need seperate speaker wire between the top firing potion and AVR ?

RP-280FAs are what started me down this expensive hobby path lol. I bought the RP-280FA towers (because the walnut finish ones were on sale for same prices as the R-280s at the time) thinking "naw I'll never do Atmos, but these are higher end speakers for same price as Reference line so what the hell". Went all Reference for center and surrounds… Well, over time I had to make it all match up so now I have an RP-450C, 2x RP-250S and 2x RP-140S (though dumped my R-10SW in favor of 2x SVS PB-2000 subs) for a "final" (lol) 5.2.4 Atmos setup. It sounds flipping amazing and the Denon X4500H AVR doesn't flinch handling it all either.

Didn't I say the same thing? And I never said it's a bad thing.
It is! Just get 2 of the SPL-120 (probably sound better)! VV See next reply about why they don't go on sale. VV

That's huge, make sure it's suitable for your room
My understanding is the speaker is so expensive to ship that it would never make it into a sale like this. You would probably need to find it B&M.

I am debating between the Onkyo TX-RZ50 and the Denon 3800. I am thinking about replacing my Denon 2301 that has issues with HDMI acting flakey (and now have a 4K Sony A80J).

I wish they made a reference series speaker that was in similar form factor as the Heresy. I have Gen 1 Heresy in front, 504C, 502s sides, 500SA rears (not set to atmos), and an Accoustic H100 sub. I am looking to get a Denon 3800 or TX-RZ50 to replace a Denon 2300.

I'm open to using either pair as main/surround, but can't upgrade to a whole set.
