So from my understanding the upper is all textile. No rigidity, no leather, no fake leather, no plastic. With that said, you will got zero support for when elevation changes happen during your trail hike. Which means your toes and heals are at the mercy of soft textile that's going to immediately warp to the shape of said body parts instead of supporting. Imagine pushing a car up a hill, but the rear trunk is made of textile. Your hands would sink in and you'd work harder to push the car.
If you want decent and inexpensive "trail/hiking" sneaker then look at New Balance "Trail" sneakers. JoesNewbalanceOutlet has great prices on them when they do sales.

No these would be horrible. I believe the name of the shoes is very misleading. These are not trail worthy in the least, unless your local playground grass is your trail.
