Best Buy has this on sale for its TotalTech members at $1,399.99. FWIW, I think you can buy a membership for less than the $100 difference.

Yes, still ends up being $50 cheaper from bestbuy and you get 60 day returns with membership.

I don't have a total tech member from BB and it still shows $1399 for me. Plus BB card gives me 10% upto $50 offer for the month, which makes it $1350 before tax and the normal 5% card reward.
Really tempted but I have to sell my current monitor to make space... I will wait til thanksgiving...

How's the G9 compared to G8? I have a G8 32 and like it a lot, but it does have scan lines at 240hz

I had the previous model only thing that sucks about this monitor is the lack of aspect ratio for ps5 and Xbox series x

Got this when it came out.

Great monitor (clunky UI with Tizen though), but G-Sync doesn't work (same applies for all of the Samsung OLED monitors) without constant flickering and blackouts. It's actually on Nvidia's end, supposedly, but worth noting.

I'm not sensitive to it so there's not a huge difference for me with or without it, but the absence of G-Sync sucks. You should also note that you'll need DSC + HDMI 2.1 if you want to do 10 bit color (which is the min for HDR) and 240hz. Otherwise you'll be at 120hz max with either DP 1.4 or HDMI 2.1 (without DSC).

Beyond that, it's pretty finicky. Switching between HDR mode and SDR mode turns off the peak brightness setting most of the time and I can't leave HDR mode on all of the time like I did with my LG CX because for some reason the SDR content brightness slider in Windows affects the HDR content brightness as well.

Samsung G series monitors also still have a recurring issue with Displayport where the display will not wake back up from sleep. On the LED models, you can get around that by just setting a screensaver, but that's not a good idea on OLED (even if you set it to be a plain black screensaver, the OLED is still on and it won't run the compensation cycles it does when turned off).

The Tizen OS is ok but Plex doesn't work properly with it (in terms of hardware decode and it doesn't allow for zoom to fill). Streaming apps are hit or miss; you can generally zoom to fill to deal with the non-conventional aspect ratio, which is nice, but because the monitor is only 1440p, it'll only stream at 1080p for most streaming apps. So you'll need to connect a streaming stick/box if you want to do 4k + HDR10+ on it (since you can't do HDR10+ playback on a laptop/pc currently).

Some TV features on it are quite nice though; it has much better speakers than most monitors and it supports bluetooth audio transmission, which is super useful for gaming on consoles.

LG OLED monitors are also a bit of a no go currently with their super aggressive SDR ABL (200 nits max). So it's probably worth waiting a generation for the next OLED monitors. Or get the Alienware DWF if you're ok with a 21:9 ultrawide.
