They're for cutting wires, nails, or any other similarly sized metal. For example, flush-cutting old wiring so it doesn't stick out past a piece of timber if you're decommissioning an old circuit. And the insulated versions give you extra peace of mind in case you cut through wire that you thought was shut off, but turns out it's still live. (Although proper safety protocols should always be followed so this surprise doesn't happen.)

I don't know what these are for but I do know Knipex makes awesome tools. The downside of this being I have purchased several of their tools that I have no use for them and they just sit on my shelf never getting used.

Its for precision cuts on wires and rated to handle up to 1000 volts, which should take care of most residual voltage on a low voltage circuit thats been powered off. I cannot speak to live circuits whatsoever but my Klein does the crimping, cuts and stripping in the right grove and I'm okay with that from home and recreational projects.

Just keep them oiled and they will last a lifetime being beautiful on that shelf.

Ive had the 8" angled on my watch list for a while but the comfort grip looks a little bulky for this(unless I was a pro using it every day). I wonder if the 10" standard will be too big for my tool bag though..

Why waste your money on a tool you will never use?

I only invest in Knipex, or another expensive brand, when it's a tool I commonly use. If it's something I don't think I will use very much, I will go with a budget brand. If I don't think I will ever use it, or don't know what it's used for, I don't buy it.

There are some people like myself that's will buy things for a rainy day. Wouldnt hate because somebody hasnt used something yet or they aren't a skilled tradesman. Buy now at a good price, rather than be forced to buy later at a bad price.

Neither, these are for trades people that know what they are for and will use the heck out of them for many years. At best a normal homeowner that might find a random use for these once a year or so.

You can just buy a set of ~4 quality pliers (like; Craftsman, Husky, Kobalt, ect..) and find more uses.
