I use a non-official Steamer Basket insert like these [amazon.com]. As low as $6 and they work in any pot. You lose nesting, but I'm not sure that's really a huge feature. On the plus side, you gain capacity as you can use the entire width of the pot.

I use a non-official Steamer Basket insert like these [amazon.com]. As low as $6 and they work in any pot. You lose nesting, but I'm not sure that's really a huge feature. On the plus side, you gain capacity as you can use the entire width of the pot.

I use the silicone steamer basket. it's easier to clean and won't scratch the pot or sink.

reviewers say that while the rim might be ss, the actual mesh basket part is not ss.

Have this set but the silicon is much easier to clean and to use. Metal handle is too hot to lift out without protection. Haven't found much use for them. I do believe that the mesh is stainless. It's on the course side.

I have the silicone but don't you find it increased the cook time ? Still trying to find out the right number of minutes for soft boiled eggs with them. 8 minutes on high doesn't seem to work

I have the silicone one but I've only ever used it for veggies... would this work better for steaming shrimp and crablegs and lobster tails?
