Reading the reviews, people were saying the plastic toe spacer was "very uncomfortable ".

Also, a plastic footbed rather than leather means it will be a great breeding ground for bacteria to cause stinky feet. The EVA foam outsole ensures they will fall apart quickly while having poor traction compared to rubber. The cork takes sometime to mold to your foot. By then the foam tread will be gone.

Always found the birko-flor marketing as dishonest / bait-and-switch for people expecting their normal sandals. They're comfortable, but the sole durability is nothing special and tends to wear through the heal and into the cork within a year or so.

Are birkenstock sandals durable in general?
Are they really orthopedic or comfortable for old people?

Based on the reviews above, they don't last more than a year so not durable , bacterial growth but they are supposed to be confortable.
I am looking for sandals/flats for grandma but with feet issues like plantas fascitis so definitely looking for orthopedic with cushioning, comfortability and durability.
