Bought this on the last SD offer. In my garage in Tampa, FL. I have the temp setting dial at #4, the half way point and the temperature is at -2F. 0F is the target for a deep freezer. It is very new, so time will tell, but so far am happy with the unit.
The unit was $159.00 delivered by FedEx and it came packaged incredibly well. The FedEx driver helped me remove all the packing to check for damage. It was in perfect shape. He said if not, he would take it back then and there. Nice guy!
In case anyone is interested, here are the links for the baskets I found that fill out the interior well. The inner dimensions either seem to be slightly larger than other chest freezers or the companies that make baskets make them extra small to give you some wiggle room when taking them out.
I wanted to maximize what I could put in while still using baskets to organize things. I wound up paying $86 for baskets, 😳 which seems like a lot but they almost exactly match the interior of the unit. I first looked at baskets sold as freezer baskets but and they wanted an exhorbitant amout for them. The ones I chose have fold in handles that act as support for the basket above it so the baskets stay level and are coated wire baskets.
The freezer came with only one hanging basket, so I purchesed one four pack of the white XXL
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1
and three two packs of the black slim
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...=UTF8&th=1
It may seem like a bit overboard but I downloaded the free Ispreadsheet and made up a spreadsheet listing what is in each basket. Since it opens from the top, you can only see the top three baskets when you open the lid, so the spread comes in handy and is easy to change as you take things out and add items to the baskets. Is this a pretty geeky way of approaching this? Absolutely! Wouldn't do it any other way !! 🤓🤓
Edit: One more thing. Leave enough air space around the front and sides of the freezer. The unit dissapates heat directly through its front and side walls. I originally thought it was only through the vent next to the compressor but watched a video online expaining this.

In for one. It's just the right size for a second freezer for me and will complement my garage mini -fridge.

Not a big dice roll for me since I have Walmart+ and Walmart is the vendor. If I don't like it they will come get it.

Weird. In the manual is says, "Do not install your freezer in any location not properly insulated or heated e.g. garage etc. Your freezer was not designed to operate in temperature settings below 55°F."

That and the multitude of reviews stating from people that theirs arrive damaged prompted me to cancel my order.

I bought the same model from Walmart (even says "last purchased on..." on the top of the page) and I checked and the model numbers are the same. My manual says "Garage ready model maintains stable and consistent temperature under extreme temperatures from 0°F to 110°F."

I think I've figured it out. I was looking at the Manual that is available on manualslib. I've since located another manual right from Curtis/Frigidaire. The one from the manufacturer says the freezer is garage ready. I'm assuming the manual that is on Manualslib is an older one and the one from Curtis/Frigidaire is a new one. It's kind of confusing though, since they seem to have not changed the model number.

To the people who already own chest freezers, I have a question: when you have to thaw it out every 6-12 months, where do you put all the food?

Why does it need to be thawed out every 6-12 months?

i've never thawed mine out in years. if you had enough ice build up you had no space but man for that you must be leaving the top off for ages or have some serious seal problems. Because i run a rusty piece of crap which was only thing could find during covid AND i had to put a hard start capacitor in to get it running, and in 4-5 years i never thrawed it, except 1 time when it wasn't cooling and i had to install the kit. Side from that ice build up helps during extended outages, etc and i'm in florida in a garage...when i open it serious heats gets in to condense.
