There's a long lecture on it that does conclude with that. Anecdotally, I've found that pods seem to work better for me still(less residue), dishwasher is only a few years old fwiw and skipping the pre-wash powder gives me better results. I still buy pods since the cost is still only a few $ a month (I run a load every 3-5 days or so). So I think the consensus is yes powder is better, the reasoning makes sense, but anecdotally I don't see the benefits. Powder is definitely more economical though

Did I hear from y'all that it's better / more economical to just get a box of the powder and use that?

I think it's a decent deal. Nothing crazy but Cascade definitely works the best for me.

Just a heads up to everyone because Cascade can be confusing at times. This is platinum plus which I believe is their highest tier. The platinum also has the same design so it may be hard to distinguish the two at first sight.

Same video convinced me and I've had much better results using powder and adding a bit in the pre wash. No residue. I have more residue using the packs with that slimy coating sometime not fully dissolving.

How does this compare to Costco or Sam's for those that have bought recently? I'm coming due.

ya I watched both videos he published and gave it an honest go but my results seemed different. FWIW I previously had the exact same model dishwasher as in the video and did mostly use powder but my current dishwasher is a pretty new model and I've personally found pods effective enough to pay the premium. Maybe it's model-specific, maybe I'm overdosing the powder, maybe my detergent powder is old, who knows. But suffice it to say it's worth testing yourself with your own parameters and draw your own conclusions.

I haven't been to Costco lately, but on their site, the available Platinum Plus is showing $24.99 for 81 pods; $0.31/pod; this deal is $0.22/pod. I'd rather wait for a deal on more pods at my Costco in-store.
